Daytona 500 weather history: Races postponed by rain in the past
Bad weather is no stranger to Daytona International Speedway. Before 2024, two runnings of the Great American Race had been postponed by rain.
OK, let's try this again.
The 2024 Daytona 500 got rained out on its traditional Sunday. But no, the race was not canceled. The weather forecast for Monday is much more promising, and the 66th Great American Race will be set to run once more.
It won't be alone. The NASCAR Xfinity Series race, the United Rentals 300, also got postponed from its scheduled Saturday start. That race, featuring former child star Frankie Muniz, is slated to start Monday night, after the Daytona 500. There won't be any pre-race concert with Pitbull, but Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson will still be around to serve as grand marshal.

Joey Logano will have pole position with 2021 winner Michael McDowell next to him in the starting grid. As of Monday morning, Logano and Denny Hamlin are the odds-on favorites to win.
