Just in case you’re trying to get your head around why Verizon isn’t working for you, find solace in the fact that you aren’t the only one facing issues lately.

A quick look at the micro-blogging site Twitter conveys there are many others affected by the same issue. As per reports, Verizon’s phone service isn’t working. For a quick glance, here’s how some of the complainants word the problem:

VERIZON PHONE SERVICE IN #WASHINGTON AND #IDAHO IS DOWN. The service has been interrupted in #Colfax #Pullman #Moscow and most of Washington State.source

Down detector – a popular service that gives information about live outages – also conveys that Verizon is indeed going through a glitch in some regions, as can be seen in the live outage map image below:

Any official word on the matter? Negative, as yet. We’re yet to locate a word from the official service channels or their social media handles.

Update 1 (Feb 11)

It appears the outage is being investigated as while reverting back to one of the Wireless customers, Verizon Support recently said:

We are here with the Verizon FIOS Residential Support, but our wireless team is well aware and working diligently to correct the issue.

Update 2 (Feb 11)

Latest status update on the matter from Verizon Wireless Support while reverting back to a complainant:

We are aware that there is an outage in your area. We are hard at work, fixing this issue. During this time we are recommending continuing troubleshooting, to address this.

Update 3 (April 09)

Apart from reports on Twitter, Down detector also conveys Verizon is down and not working for some.

Update 4 (July 01)

Verizon is currently experiencing wireless network issues in Dallas, Texas but technicians are aware and are working to resolve them quickly.

Update 5 (July 02)

Verizon has been down for many for the past some time, and users are unable to make calls or use the internet. While Down detector conveys an outage, Verizon Fios support on Twitter has acknowledged the outage in some areas.

Update 6 (August 17)

A bunch of new reports from Verizon users is surfacing online, reports from users facing Verizon service outages in various parts of the U.S.

Verizon has since come out to acknowledge this issue, noting that the teams are working on it.

We are aware some customers in your service area may be experiencing issues and our network teams are looking into this.Source

Update 7 (August 18)

Downdetector is showing another spike in the number of reports meaning that Verizon is having yet another outage. This makes it two days in a row where Verizon users have been experiencing issues with their services.

Update 8 (August 19)

Reports from Verizon users have since subsided and even Downdetector is reporting relatively lower numbers of reports. This indicates that the issues faced are now resolved.

Update 9 (August 20)

Reports from Verizon users in Rhode Island are reporting an outage in the carrier’s services, many noting that they’re stuck with no internet.

Verizon is the worst. We still have no internet in RISource

No internet, limited data service in Rhode Island. Verizon needs to get their shit together. I’ll be even more pissed if it’s a breach like T-Mobile.Source

Downdetector is also showing a massive spike in reports over the past couple of hours.

Update 10 (August 21)

Reports indicating an outage have dried up on Twitter and there’s also no indication of any major troubles with Verizon on sites like Downdetector.

Update 11 (September 07)

It appears that many Verizon customers are experiencing issues with the service for hours as reports continue to pile up on Twitter. Apart from that, Downdetector also shows a huge spike in the number of reports indicating that there’s an outage with Verizon.

It appears that Verizon mobile internet has been down for many people throughout CA all day (including for myself). @VZWSupport seems deadset on not admitting that they know about the outage. (Source)

Update 12 (September 08)

Social Media reports on Verizon service interruption and outages have gone down and even Downdetector doesn’t seem to report any new reports and as such, it is safe to assume that this issue has since been addressed.

Update 13 (September 17)

It appears that there’s an ongoing outage with Verizon’s service in parts of the country, however, most reports are coming from users in the Southeastern region according to Downdetector.

So Verizon service and internet are completely down in like all of Georgia right now? (Source)

Update 14 (September 18)

In a statement to CBS46, a Verizon Wireless spokesperson confirmed that the outage was identified and was quickly fixed as well.

Some of our customers in Georgia may have experienced a disruption in service overnight. Our network team quickly identified and fixed the issue, and service was fully restored early this morning. (Source)

Update 15 (September 20)

The lack of user reports on social sites such as Twitter and the lack of hits on Downdetector suggest that Verizon customers aren’t facing any widespread issues with the service today.

Update 16 (September 28)

In the last few hours, Verizon subscribers from different parts of the US have reported that Wi-Fi calling is not working for them. The issue is yet to be acknowledged. More on that here.

Update 17 (September 29)

01:40 pm (IST): Some Verizon users have previously reported WiFi calling issues where the calling was suddenly stopped. As per the recent reports from those affected users, this function is now back on track.

Update 18 (October 01)

05:58 pm (IST): There appears to have been an outage with Verizon’s 5G service yesterday as the carrier confirmed that they were altered to the issue. Fortunately, it seems it wasn’t widespread and the issue has been dealt with.

We currently have an alert regarding 5G services however, we are instructed to access the account in order to verify that you are impacted. (Source)

Update 19 (October 06)

10:10 am (IST): It appears that many Verizon users are having issues with the service. The downdetector is suddenly showing spike in the number of reports which indicates that there’s an outage with Verizon.

Update 20 (October 07)

08:34 am (IST): It appears that Verizon is going through a widespread outage as many reports have surfaced online suggesting that the toll-free numbers are down. Some even claim that they aren’t able to make any calls.

Update 21 (October 08)

09:40 am (IST): Verizon spokesperson confirmed the outage issue saying it was related to toll-free numbers. Moreover, the cause of issue was identified and the service is restored.

“Earlier this evening there was an issue that impacted certain toll free numbers. Our technicians have identified the root cause and services have been restored,” the spokesperson said in an email. “We apologize for any inconvenience.” (Source)

Update 22 (October 09)

12:30 pm (IST): Verizon support has acknowledged an outage in Boston and assured users that they are working to resolve the issue as soon as possible.

Update 23 (October 11)

10:20 am (IST): Verizon subscribers are not reporting an outage of the carrier’s services across various parts of the U.S.

DownDetector also shows a sharp rise in the number of reports over the past few hours. At the time of writing, it remains unclear what exactly is causing these issues.

Update 24 (October 12)

11:14 am (IST): Several hours later and still, Verizon is evidently experiencing outages and issues. Downdetector still shows considerable reports.

Even with all this, Verizon hasn’t confirmed any outage yet.

Update 25 (October 13)

07:11 pm (IST): Fresh reports doing rounds suggest Verizon is down in various parts of the U.S. A quick look at Downdetector reveals multiple reports in the recent hours showing the outage indeed is still going on.

There are also several Redditors reporting the same concerns, however, there’s still nothing official from Verizon’s side.

Update 26 (October 14)

11:11 am (IST): Downdetector now shows the number of reports are beginning to subside. This implies that the outage might have been addressed.

Update 27 (November 09)

11:45 am (IST): Going by reports surfacing on Twitter, looks like Verizon is acting up as of writing this. Downdetector also conveys the same.

Same here with Verizon – went down when Xfinity did and now it’s very spotty.source

Lucky you, huge internet outage for all of the sf Bay Area right now. Both my Verizon and Comcast went down. Only att lte works.source

06:15 pm (IST): The lack of fresh reports and a drop in reports on Downdetector indicate that the outage was addressed by Verizon.

Update 28 (November 10)

02:06 pm (IST): Verizon Director of Corporate Communications — Kevin King — reportedly claimed that the wireless network provider “did not have any network outages” Tuesday morning.

This statement, however, is clearly not true given the sea of reports that came in on Twitter during the outage. That said, the services seem to have returned to normal since the outage yesterday.

Update 29 (November 11)

04:00 pm (IST): Some Verizon customers seem to have been facing issues with the service over the past few hours according to Downdetector, however, there’s no indication of a widespread outage.

Update 30 (November 12)

06:55 pm (IST): The lack of reports on Twitter and Downdetector indicate that there’s no major or minor outage with Verizon’s service at the time.

Update 31 (November 13)

03:45 pm (IST): After a user complained of a service outage, Verizon has confirmed in a recent tweet that currently there are no widespread outages going on with their network.

Update 32 (November 15)

06:54 pm (IST): After a short surge in reports on Downdetector regarding an outage with Verizon services earlier today, things seem to have returned to normal.

Update 33 (November 30)

06:54 pm (IST): Reports coming in indicate that there is a big outage going on between AT&T, T-Mobile and Verizon. Especially between T-Mobile and Verizon, as calls between them are having issues nationwide.

Luckily, this seems to have been mitigated for the most part.

Update 34 (December 01)

12:36 pm (IST): The outage was fully resolved as highlighted by a report and the significant reduction in complaints on services such as Downdetector.

Update 35 (December 02)

04:00 pm (IST): In case you’re looking to report an outage, you may notice that the Verizon Wireless CS Twitter account no longer exists. Verizon confirmed that they have consolidated their support handles and now @VerizonSupport is the only official support handle where you can reach out.

Update 36 (December 03)

05:10 pm (IST): While there was a bit of a spike in the number of reports indicating issues with Verizon on Downdetector earlier today, things seem to have stabilized now.

Update 37 (February 02)

01:35 pm (IST): Reports on Twitter and service outage tracking websites such as Downdetector indicate that many users are experiencing an issue with Verizon.

There’s no official word on the outage yet. However, we’ll keep track on the developments and post an update if and when there’s something to share.

Update 38 (February 03)

12:52 pm (IST): Verizon users have reported an outage a couple of hours ago. And while the number of reports on Downtector has decreased, it still shows a considerable number of complaints.

Fortunately, Verizon Support on Twitter is responding to the affected users and asking them to share more info via DM.

Update 39 (March 22)

10:30 am (IST): Verizon is once again down and not working for many users. Reports on Twitter and Downdetector suggest that the service has been down for roughly an hour.

Update 40 (March 23)

11:30 am (IST): A few hours ago, Verizon support confirmed that the company was working to address an outage reported in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. Given that there aren’t many fresh reports of an outage in the past couple of hours, it should be safe to assume that the widespread outage was resolved.

Update 41 (March 24)

12:46 pm (IST): There were several reports of outage on Downdetector earlier today. However, it looks like the outage has been resolved as the number of reports has diminished.

Update 42 (March 25)

10:29 am (IST): Verizon support on Twitter is now asking users to download My Fios app to get updates related to the current outages.

Update 43 (March 26)

11:59 am (IST): Verizon recently acknowledged an outage that was reported in NYC. However, it looks like the issue is resolved as reports have almost dissappeared.

Update 44 (April 01)

02:18 pm (IST): Many users have taken to Twitter to report that Verizon is currently down or not working. Moreover, reports on Downdetector also suggest the same.

Update 45 (April 02)

10:32 am (IST): It appears that the recent outage with Verizon is resolved as we haven’t come across any fresh user reports on Downdetector.

Update 46 (April 09)

09:44 am (IST): Reports on Twitter now suggest that Verizon is again down or not working for many users. Moreover, reports on Downdetector also confirm the same.

Update 47 (April 13)

05:15 pm (IST): A report on Downdetector now suggests that the recent outage with Verizon is seemingly resolved.

Update 48 (April 14)

11:14 am (IST): Fresh reports on Downdetector now suggest that Verizon is once again down or not working for many.

Update 49 (April 15)

11:46 am (IST): The recent outage was seemingly resolved yesterday as there were no user reports. However, fresh reports on Downdetector now suggest that users are again facing issues with Verizon.

Update 50 (April 16)

12:17 pm (IST): Reports on Downdetector now suggest the recent outage with Verizon is seemingly resolved.

Update 51 (April 21)

08:34 am (IST): Earlier today many Verizon customers were facing issues with the service. However, in a recent response to a user’s complaint, Verizon support confirmed that the widespread outage has been resolved.

A fiber issue caused some customers to experience intermittent call failures today. The issue was identified and resolved and the majority of impacted customers should be seeing service as usual. The outage was occurring for Verizon customers. (Source)
