However, in the fourth quarter of Wednesday's quarterfinal, ESPN cameras caught him on the sidelines looking exhausted, with reports that he was "vomiting profusely" and requesting fluids. It was unclear when Skattebo suffered a potential injury, but he remained in the game.

Skattebo was reported to be "vomiting profusely," according to ESPN during the CFP quarterfinal game vs. Texas.
Despite that, Skattebo did not leave the game and re-entered the game. He made a 2-yard catch on the next Sun Devils drive. Skattebo has 25 rushes for 131 yards and five catches for 21 yards for ASU as it trailed Texas. He added a 42-yard pass to Malik McClain for a touchdown to cut the Longhorns lead to 24-16 with 6:31 remaining in the game.
Following a Sun Devils interception, he then caught a long pass down the sideline to give Arizona State first-and-goal vs. the Longhorns.
Entering the CFP quarterfinal, Skattebo had 263 carries for 1,568 yards and 19 touchdowns while also adding 37 receptions for 506 yards and three touchdowns.
