Weather updates: Severe thunderstorm watch until 3 pm Friday


Update: 11:45 a.m.: The National Weather Service is warning those in Boone, Kenton and Campbell counties to seek shelter if outdoors as a line of strong thunderstorms moves into the area. Half-inch hail and gusts up to 50 mph are expected.
Update: 11:30 a.m.: The National Weather Service has issued a severe thunderstorm warning for Dearborn, Ohio, and Switzerland counties in Indiana and Boone, and Gallatin, counties in Kentucky.
A severe thunderstorm was located 9 miles south of Dillsboro, moving east at 25 mph and there may be 60 mph wind gusts. Expect damage to trees and power lines.
The weather service said Interstate 71 in Kentucky between mile markers 62 and 63 could be affected.
Previous reporting: After the severe storms that swept through the region earlier this week, more storms could be on the way.
Friday, the National Weather Service issued a severe thunderstorm watch, in place until 3 p.m.
Here are the areas under the watch:
- Dearborn, Ohio, Ripley and Switzerland counties in Indiana;
- Boone, Bracken, Campbell, Carroll, Gallatin, Grant, Kenton, Lewis, Mason, Own, Pendleton and Robertson counties in Kentucky;
- Adams, Brown, Clermont, Hamilton and Scioto counties in Ohio.
Frequent lightning, scattered gusts up to 65 mph and isolated hail up to a quarter size is possible.
