The National Weather Service has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for Williamson County until 6:45 p.m. Meanwhile, Austin had a Tornado Warning issued at around 5:40 p.m.

Here is the full alert issued by the NWS for Williamson County, which at the time was focused on initial areas to be hit by the storm:

The National Weather Service in Austin San Antonio has issued a

* Severe Thunderstorm Warning for... Southwestern Williamson County in south central Texas... North central Hays County in south central Texas... Northern Travis County in south central Texas... Eastern Blanco County in south central Texas...

* Until 600 PM CDT.

* At 504 PM CDT, a severe thunderstorm was located 7 miles west of The Hills, or 10 miles north of Dripping Springs, moving northeast at 30 mph.

HAZARD...Ping pong ball size hail and 60 mph wind gusts. SOURCE...Radar indicated.

IMPACT...People and animals outdoors will be injured. Expect hail damage to roofs, siding, windows, and vehicles. Expect wind damage to roofs, siding, and trees.

* Locations impacted include... Austin, Round Rock, Cedar Park, Georgetown, Pflugerville, Anderson Mill, Windemere, Leander, Hutto, Lakeway, Lago Vista, Bee Cave, West Lake Hills, Hudson Bend, The Hills, Liberty Hill, Georgetown Dam, Mansfield Dam, Barton Creek and Jonestown.

Once the storms pass, Taylor and Williamson County will remain under a Tornado Watch until 10 p.m. Monday, March 21.

The Taylor Texas Weather Network projects a 80% chances of showers and thunderstorms into the overnight hours. Some storms could be severe.

"The storms may form a line and move from west to east. All severe types are possible," said the NWS Austin/San Antonio Office. "While large hail is the primary risk, damaging winds and tornadoes may occur as well."

Winds will be in the 20-25 mph range with gusts as high as 40 mph. Rainfall up to one inch is possible. Otherwise, Monday's high will be 78 degrees with a low of 54 degrees.

Sunny weather should return on Tuesday and Wednesday, March 22-23, but temperatures should cool down into the upper 60s during the day and low 40s at night.

"Elevated to near critical, and possibly critical fire weather conditions will be the main concern each afternoon for the next several days," said the NWS Austin/San Antonio Office. "Periods of breezy conditions and low humidities along with continued dry vegetation are expected. Below normal temperatures mid week warm to above normal late week into the weekend. Mostly clear skies will prevail."

Highs should be back into the lower 80s by Friday, March 25.
