A severe thunderstorm watch was issued for several Chicago-area counties through early Sunday as fierce storms and showers remained a possibility in the region.
A severe thunderstorm watch was issued for Cook, DuPage, Kankakee, Lake and Will counties in Illinois until 2 a.m. Sunday, according to the National Weather Service.
Earlier, multiple severe thunderstorm warnings went into effect, warning of possible wind gusts of up to 70 miles per hour. Damage to trees, mobile homes and roofs was possible, forecasters stated. The warnings have since expired.
