Everything Micah Shrewsberry said after Penn State basketball ...

DES MOINES, Iowa — Micah Shrewsberry was quite pleased with how the Penn State men's basketball team performed against Texas A&M in the NCAA Tournament on Thursday night. After all, the Nittany Lions routed the Aggies, 76-59, to score their first NCAA Tournament victory since 2001 in their first appearance in the dance in a dozen years.

Guard Andrew Funk turned in a historic outing with 27 points on eight 3-pointers, while guard Jalen Pickett once again flirted with a triple-double by recording 19 points, seven rebounds and eight assists. Forward Seth Lundy joined them in double figures with 10 points, and it was clear that No. 7-seed Texas A&M had no answer for No. 10-seed Penn State and its offense.

That sets up a meeting between the Nittany Lions and No. 2-seed Texas on Saturday night. The Longhorns dispatched Colgate, 81-61, earlier Thursday evening behind some hot shooting of its own.

By virtue of its run to the Big Ten Tournament title game in Chicago last week, Penn State has worked its way into the national consciousness. That's going to continue Saturday. After the Nittany Lions and Aggies tipped off at 10:16 p.m. ET on Thursday, Penn State and Texas are slated to begin squarely in prime time at 7:45 p.m. ET, and the game will be televised on CBS. It'll be yet another showcase for Shrewsberry, Pickett, Funk and the rest of the Nittany Lions.
