BROOKINGS — There wasa legendary development on the ESPN College GameDay at South Dakota State front Friday evening.

Former NFL kicker and current football analyst Pat McAfeeannounced Friday night that he has been selected as this week's celebrity guest picker and will be in Brookings tomorrow morning for the College GameDay festivities.

"Beyond honored to get the call to be a part of the greatest @CollegeGameDay environment in the history of the show tomorrow with the fine folks from @GoJacksSDSU," McAfee tweeted. "Real life bucket list stuff."

How to react when your bitter in-state rival hosts College GameDay

Each week, the GameDaycrew selects a celebrity, typically with ties to the host state/city, to pick the winners in a handful of that week's games.

Last month at Iowa State, ESPN chose country artist Eric Church, a North Carolina native with no connection to the Cyclones, so at least there's some South Dakota ties with McAfee, who played with the legendaryAdam Vinatieri, an SDSU alum, from 2009-16 with the Indianapolis Colts.

Speaking of Vinatieri, his nephew, SDSU kicker Chase Vinatieri, brought heat Thursday afternoon on Twitter.

In making his announcement Friday night, McAfee attached video of him receiving the phone call. In the clip, the West Virginia grad says he'll be "bringing the hammer" (see here) then asks the person filming to grab the SDSU Jackrabbithoodie givento him by Adam Vinatieri.

McAfee was drafted in the seventh round (222nd overall) of the 2009 NFL Draft by the Indianapolis Colts. He played eight seasons, averaging 46.4 yards per punt (40.1 net), beforeretiring at the close of the 2016-17 season.

Following his retirement, McAfee joined Barstool Sports, for whom he worked until August 2018. He has since appeared on a variety of national college football programs (Fox Sports and ESPN) and currently hosts "The Pat McAfee Show" on DAZN and Westwood One.
