Hoda Kotb Shares Her 2025 New Year's Resolution
Hoda Kotb is looking forward to the year ahead.
On Jan. 1, in a pre-taped show, Hoda discussed the importance of intentions with co-host Jenna Bush Hager, sharing that her focus is on community in the coming months.
“People are always talking about whether you should make resolutions or not, and I do think there's something about setting an intention for the year,” Hoda said.
When asked by Jenna what her specific New Year's resolution is for 2025, Hoda replied, “I've noticed about myself that I'm more about doing things in community with people ... I just decided that I like community better. I go to workout classes — even if I'm not having big conversations, I'm around people who are feeling the same vibe.”
Hoda also mentioned her continued weekly practice of “Thankful Thursdays” where she carves out time to “do stuff for me,” whether it's a manicure or a massage.
In response, Jenna recalled a birthday card the longtime anchor had gifted her last November. “It said something to the extent of, ‘Jenna, I want to slow it down like we do in the summer.’ It makes me want to cry, because there's something about wanting to be with the people we love while we have them,” Jenna said. “We have a couple more weeks together and I plan to enjoy every moment.”
Hoda's resolutions come during her final few weeks at TODAY, where she will conclude her career as co-anchor on Jan. 10, 2025, after 26 years at NBC.
“So I was doing the math and I realized that I have spent 26 years at NBC, 16 years on the 10 and seven years with you. And I just turned 60,” Hoda told her TODAY colleagues during a Sept. 26 broadcast. “It was such a monumental moment for me when I turned 60 years old, because I started thinking about that decade. Like, what does that decade mean, what does it hold and what's it going to have for me? And I realized that it was time for me to turn the page at 60 and to try something new.”
Craig Melvin has been tapped as Hoda's replacement as co-anchor. He will begin his new role as co-anchor alongside Savannah Guthrie on Jan. 13, 2025.
On a Dec. 18 episode of TODAY with Hoda & Jenna, Jenna Bush Hager announced that celebrations were scheduled in anticipation for Hoda's last day on the job.
“We are having a Hoda-bration for Hoda's final show, and guess what? We're going to have a live audience,” Jenna revealed.
Hoda's final TODAY with Hoda & Jenna show will occur in Studio 8G at 30 Rockefeller Plaza in New York City.
“There will be big surprises, lots of surprises that Hoda won't even know about,” Jenna said.
