Liverpool ending streaks36' Newcastle 0-2 Liverpool
Newcastle came into this match on a 17-game unbeaten run in the Premier League. They were also on a 17-game streak of conceding no more than one goal in any match.
That defensive streak is over now, and the unbeaten run is in big trouble as well.

Chance for Saint-Maximin!31' Newcastle 0-2 Liverpool
Saint-Maximin has the ball on the right side of Liverpool's box. He has several defenders in front of him and only Isak up in support, but he jukes back and forth to create some space and gets a great shot off, forcing an even better save from Alisson.
Newcastle are not rolling over here!

Brutal for Pope29' Newcastle 0-2 Liverpool
Hello darkness my old friend …
I have no idea what Nick Pope was thinking there but, from a personal point of view, he pays a really heavy price for his moment of madness. He is out of the League Cup final.
With Martin Dubravka cup tied that will surely mean a start for Loris Karius at Wembley. Pope has been so good for Newcastle this season. Disastrous.

Liverpool thriving in chaos28' Newcastle 0-2 Liverpool
What a crazy game. Liverpool had to absorb pressure early on, now they lead 2-0 against 10 men.
No idea what Pope was thinking there. Made an absolute hash of it. Referee had no option but to send him off.
Credit to Alisson for launching that counter attack with a perfectly weighted kick towards Salah. He forced that blunder.

Pope out of cup final25' Newcastle 0-2 Liverpool
Compounding the misery for Newcastle, Pope is now out of the Carabao Cup Final a week from tomorrow.
With Dubravka cup-tied, that leaves former Liverpool man Loris Karius or Mark Gillespie as Eddie Howe's options in net for the match against Manchester United.

RED CARD! Newcastle are down to 10!22' Newcastle 0-2 Liverpool
Alisson's brilliant distribution releases Salah on goal. Pope rushes out beyond the box to clear the ball. He dives but doesn't make contact with his head, and his arms momentarily close around the ball.
He's sent packing and things have gone from bad to worse for the hosts.

Liverpool's second21' Newcastle 0-2 Liverpool
Liverpool double their lead and it's another brilliantly worked goal. Lovely clipped pass from Salah and Gakpo tucked it away expertly. Liverpool attacking with the kind of movement, incision and quality we haven't seen enough this season.

Liverpool's quick start21' Newcastle 0-2 Liverpool
And just when we thought it had been a quick start for Newcastle... Liverpool have responded as well as Jurgen Klopp could have hoped for.
That's two goals in the opening 20 minutes and a very bright start to the game. What a sublime pass from Mohamed Salah to set up Cody Gakpo for his second goal in consecutive games.

TAA and Nunez combining16' Newcastle 0-1 Liverpool
What a gorgeous and perfectly timed pass that was from Trent Alexander-Arnold for Darwin Nunez. It is of course something we have come to expect from the right-back who picks up his first assist in the Premier League this season after his assist for Cody Gakpo against Everton on Monday was judged to have taken a deflection on its way through.
And a word for Nunez who did so well to control the ball first-time and pull his right arm back to ensure he didn't touch it. That was a confident and accurate finish, the kind he hasn't always been able to pull off so far this season.

A goal to calm Klopp16' Newcastle 0-1 Liverpool
Lots of frantic gesturing from Klopp on the touchline in the opening stages here. Clearly wasn't happy with Liverpool being too slow to close down Newcastle's wide players but that opening goal has changed his mood.
What a pass from Alexander-Arnold, the control from Nunez was exquisite and the finish was emphatic.

Newcastle had started so well15' Newcastle 0-1 Liverpool
What a hammer blow that Liverpool goal is and completely against the run of play.
Newcastle had started so well and with such conviction, but they've been caught on the counter there, leaving a big space in the middle of the pitch for Darwin Nunez to run into and score his first Premier League goal since November 12.

GOAL! Liverpool in front!10' Newcastle 0-1 Liverpool
Nunez is allowed far too much space in the middle of the field. He takes a long ball over the top from Alexander-Arnold, uses his chest to control it and fires it past Pope.
VAR takes a look to see if Nunez used his arm to control the ball, but the goal stands!
