The Purdue Boilermakers and North Carolina State Wolfpack hope to earn the right to play one more game this season when they collide in the Final Four of the 2024 NCAA Tournament on Saturday. Purdue (33-4), which defeated Tennessee 72-66 in the Midwest Region final, is looking to make its second appearance in the National Championship Game and first since losing to UCLA in 1969. The Wolfpack (26-14), who were victorious both times they played for the national title (1974, 1983), beat Duke 76-64 in the South Region final for their ninth consecutive victory.

Tipoff from State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Ariz. is set for 6:09 p.m. ET. Why Purdue can cover

After being eliminated by 16th-seeded Fairleigh Dickinson in the first round of last year's Tournament, the Boilermakers appear to be on a mission this time around. They've won their first three games by an average of 26.3 points and withstood a stiff challenge from the Volunteers last Sunday, thanks in large part to Zach Edey. The senior center set a career high with 40 points, nine of which he recorded after Tennessee tied the game with less than six minutes remaining in the second half, and pulled down 16 rebounds for his 28th double-double of the season and seventh in a row.

Edey's effort marked the fourth time in the last 60 years a player registered at least 40 points and 15 boards in an NCAA Tournament game and first since Loyola Marymount's Bo Kimble accomplished the feat in 1990. He has joined Elvin Hayes, Jerry West and Wilt Chamberlain as the only players in the past 70 years to average at least 30 points and 15 rebounds through four games of a Tournament with marks of 30 points and 16.3 boards per contest. With 120 points and 65 rebounds, Edey is the first to amass those totals in one NCAA Tournament since Indiana State's Larry Bird in 1979. See which team to back at SportsLine.

Why NC State can cover

The Wolfpack have registered nine consecutive victories since losing their last four regular-season contests, which is their longest winning streak since a 10-game run during the 2012-13 campaign. The club has played well defensively of late as well, limiting its last six opponents below 40% shooting from the field. Marquette was just 33.3% from the floor in the Sweet 16 matchup against NC State, while Duke made only 19 of its 59 shot attempts (32.2%) in the Elite Eight showdown.

DJ Burns Jr. led the Wolfpack with a season-high 29 points against the Blue Devils, with 20 coming on 9-of-11 shooting in the second half. The senior forward enters the Final Four with 73 points in "The Big Dance," the ninth-most in one NCAA Tournament in program history. Burns was named the South Region's Most Outstanding Player as he averaged 18.3 points while hitting 67.4% of his shot attempts in NC State's first four games. See which team to back at SportsLine.
