Everyday is a special day when you have your best friend by your side. You don’t need an excuse to show your love and gratitude for all the joy he or she brings.

However, if you want one, Saturday 26 August is National Dog Day and restaurants and stores are offering deals and freebies for your furry best friend. Here are some that you can take advantage of.

Dunkin’

Open up your Dunkin’ app on Saturday and order an iced latte in your favorite flavor and you’ll contribute to bringing comfort and joy to children in hospitals. For each purchase the company will donate $1 to the Joy in Childhood Foundation to support the Dogs for Joy Program. The funds will go to help place more dogs in children’s hospitals.

“We’re directly impacting kids in hospitals who need comfort. The dogs help guide them through what can often be scary or sometimes lonely times during treatment,” says Dunkin’ Joy in Childhood Foundation Director April McGonnigal. “The Dogs for Joy program aims to increase in-residence dog programs in children’s hospitals — we’re aiming to introduce five new Dogs for Joy in 2023.”

PetSmart

Need to pick up some essentials for dog? This year the pet superstore is offering 15 percent off them through an online-only deal.

Starbucks

If you are craving Starbucks’ Pumpkin Spice Latte, you’re in luck. The Seattle-based coffeehouse chain announced this week that it and Pumpkin Cream Cold Brew are back. A when you swing by one near you, order a Puppuccino for your best friend. That is if he or she doesn’t have an intolerance to dairy products.

If you’re unfamiliar with them, it’s a small cup filled with whipped cream.

Krispy Kreme

It’s not only humans that love pumpkin spice but also pooches. Starting 26 August Krispy Kreme is offering Pup’kin Spice Doggie Doughnuts at participating shops. The limited time offer will be available while supplies last.

Shake Shack

While Shake Shack has a year-round dog menu, Saturday through Sunday, the restaurant is offering a Pooch-ini dog biscuit for free with the purchase of a shake as part of its Dog Days special. The deal is available in-store, via the Shake Shack Mobile App and on-line.

However, you can’t get the offer for orders made through third party delivery apps. Likewise, shakes that are limited time offerings are not considered as a qualifying purchase, including Triple Chocolate Brownie Shake and Oreo Cookie Funnel Cake Shake.
