Get your pooch a Krispy Kreme ‘doggie doughnut’ for National Dog Day
Krispy Kreme is about to “unleash” some “pawsome” treats for furry friends on National Dog Day.
This is the brand’s first release of its Doggie Doughnuts, peanut butter-based biscuits inspired by classic Krispy Kreme doughnuts. The limited-edition treat will be available in a six-count box at participating stores on Friday, Aug. 26, while supplies last.
“Our dogs have given us so much love and comfort to help us through these last couple of years,” said Dave Skena, global chief brand officer for Krispy Kreme. “They deserve this special treat. On National Dog Day, this Friday, give your furry friend something pawsome.”
Krispy Kreme stores will also offer a limited-edition red bandana with a pattern of dogs, bones and doughnuts (seen in the photo above) in celebration of National Dog Day, while supplies last.
The Doggie Doughnuts are handmade by Huds and Toke, an Australia-based artisan pet treat company. Each doughnut is designed for dogs of all sizes and ages. The hard-baked biscuit is made with ingredients such as Carob, a substitute for chocolate.
Ingredients for the treats are posted here, along with other FAQs. Krispy Kreme says the biscuits contain carob, whole wheat flour, peanut butter, canola oil, apple cider vinegar, nonfat dry milk and more.
The company also has posted nutritional information online: “crude protein (min) 12 percent, crude fat (min) 10 percent, crude fiber (max) 4 percent, moisture (max) 5 percent, ash (max) 4 percent, sugars (max) 9 percent, salt (max) 0.4 percent.”
