Liverpool and Leicester City round off 2022 with a Premier League clash at Anfield.

ANFIELD, LIVERPOOL — Liverpool face Leicester City aiming to extend a recent Premier League recovery that has brought them back into top-four contention after a mixed start to the season.

The Reds made it three league wins on the bounce in beating Aston Villa in their first game back after the World Cup and can keep the good feeling going by signing off for 2022 at Anfield with another victory on Friday.

However, they face a Foxes side hurting from a 3-0 thrashing at the hands of Newcastle United last time out, a result that will ensure they are desperate to put things right on Merseyside.

Liverpool vs. Leicester City live updates, highlights

62nd min: Oxlade-Chamberlain and Robertson make way, with Keita and Tsimikas replacing them.

61st min: Dewsbury-Hall meets a ball in from the right-hand side with his head and he should do so much better than to nod it well wide of the post.

The Englishman could have joined Wout Faes on a brace.

59th min: Leicester make a change, Ndidi making way for Tielemans.

54th min: Nunez drives at the Leicester defence and slips in a lovely through ball for Salah but the Egyptian can only pass his attempt beyond the far post.

51st min: Henderson lets a quick Alexander-Arnold throw-in run across him and unleashes a dipping effort that whistles past the post.

48th min: Harsh.

46th min: Liverpool get the game restarted.

HALFTIME: An utterly crazy turnaround in a game in which Liverpool have been a long way from their best.

Leicester looked sharp on the counter and defensively resolute throughout that half and yet, thanks to two freak own goals, they trail 2-0.

45th min: GOAL! Liverpool in front and can you believe it, it's their danger man Wout Faes at it again.

Nunez is played in one on one by Oxlade-Chamberlain and dinks a delightful finish past Ward that rather unfortunately comes back off the upright. More fortunately, it's straight into the onrushing Faes, whose attempt to clear is calamitous and brings him his second own goal of the night.

38th min: GOAL! Liverpool get back into the game with a massive slice of luck.

Alexander-Arnold's low cross is met by Faes, but his attempt to divert the ball out of play instead forces it up and over Ward and in at the far post. Leicester probably deserved better for their performance so far.

35th min: Henderson tries his luck from the edge of the box but it's an easy one for Ward to collect.

Moments later, Leicester are up the other end where a deft Vardy header sets up Perez for a dangerous cross that is just about cleared.

27th min: Salah has the ball in the net but the flag is rightly up for offside.

It's Oxlade-Chamberlain who is beyond the Leicester defence after a Ward clearance hits Salah in the head to start the move.

23rd min: Oxlade-Chamberlain gets Nunez away down the left for a pullback to Salah, but the Egyptian can only find the side-netting.

19th min: Robertson shanks a crossfield pass and Leicester look like they have the numbers in a counterattack.

However, Thiago puts in a well-timed last-ditch tackle to retrieve possession and Liverpool get away with it.

13th min: A break in play as Daka receives treatment in the Liverpool box. Jamie Vardy warming up on the touchline and he will have to come on.

8th min: Leicester looking so dangerous from the early ball in behind, with the pace of Daka, Perez and Barnes causing all sorts of problems for Liverpool.

4th min: GOAL! Dewsbury-Hall opens the scoring for Leicester!

A long pass forward reaches Daka and he draws in Henderson before laying off to Dewsbury-Hall, who has a gaping hole in the Liverpool defence to run through.

The midfielder takes the invitation and then keeps his cool to prod beyond Alisson - what a start for the visitors.
