WATCH: Lewis Capaldi Stuns With Performance Of "Wish You The ...
Lewis Capaldi appeared as a special guest on the season finale of The Voice to perform his fifth consecutive UK No. 1 hit, “Wish You The Best.”
The multi-platinum GRAMMY-nominated artist stepped into the single spotlight to deliver the powerful piano ballad that conquers the narrative of finding peace in moving on from a relationship. While he admits he’ll miss having that person to talk to and staying up to date with their life, he’s come to terms with the fact that “it’s supposed to be this way.”
“But, oh, my love / I wanna say I miss the green in your eyes / And when I said we could be friends, guess I lied / I wanna say I wish that you never left / Oh, but instead I only wish you the best / I wanna say without you, everything’s wrong / And you were everything I need all along / I wanna say I wish that you never left / Oh, but instead I only wish you the best,” Capaldi delivers in the chorus.
While his stage presence is simple in terms of production, the Scottish singer-songwriter’s remarkable vocals hold enough emotion and talent to keep the audience captivated through every note and every lyric that effortlessly flows out of him.
By the eruption of cheers from the audiences throughout Capaldi’s performance, it’s clear that those present for the remaining episodes were blown away by this special guest singer.
“Wish You The Best” also marks Capaldi’s third No. 1 in just the past year, following his previous hits to claim the top spot on the charts, “Someone You Loved,” “Before You Go,” “Forget Me,” and “Pointless.”
Fans also have the chance to reconnect with this heart-wrenching ballad as it appears on the 26-year-old musician’s latest album, Broken by Desire to Be Heavenly Sent, which was unveiled on May 19.
Taking to Instagram upon the project’s release, Capaldi wrote, “almost 4 years to the day since my first album came out I’m so happy that ‘broken by desire to be heavenly sent’ is finally yours! I hope you love it as much as I do ❤️ “
As a result of his ongoing success, Lewis Capaldi is considered to be one of the biggest hitmakers of the current moment.
He also recently wrapped up his extensive UK and European arena tour which kicked off on January 14 and continued with dates in Manchester, Liverpool, Glasgow, Belfast, Dublin, Cardiff and Exeter.
Throughout the month of May, Capaldi has sold out another run of shows across the UK. These dates come in support of his new project, which he gets to showcase in front of his loyal fanbase each night. This trek kicked off May 19 in Kingston and will wrap on May 24 in Bristol.
