Travis Kelce's Dad Ed Talks About Taylor Swift In First Interview

Taylor Swift is not just like us – she’s better. In his first interview since his son, Travis Kelce, went public with the “Karma” singer, Ed Kelce revealed to People Magazine the moment that showed him what kind of person Swift is. 

“I’ll tell you something very special that I noticed about Taylor the first time I met her,” Ed shared with the outlet. “We’re sitting in the suite, she gets up and in the front room, she gets up to go get a drink or something and she starts picking up empty bottles, cans, plates that are scattered around. Because in the suites everybody gets stuff and you empty it down wherever you can.”

“And I’m just thinking, I don’t think she got the diva memo,” he continued. “She didn’t get the spoiled musician. She doesn’t know how to pull that off. And that really to me said a whole lot.”

In footage from Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City, posted on X (the social platform formerly known as Twitter), Kelce Sr. was seen chatting with Swift. It was the fourth consecutive Kansas City Chiefs Game that Swift had attended, as the team continues its winning streak.  

The father of two called Swift, “a very, very sweet, very charming, down-to-earth young woman,” adding, “she’s very smart. I mean, very. That comes through right away.”

Having had her own bonding experiences with Swift, Kelce matriarch, Donna, recently spoke out about criticism that the NFL is dedicating too much time on the singer during their game broadcasts. “All I can tell you is that the NFL is laughing all the way to the bank,” Donna said. “You know what I’m saying? Good for them. They’re getting the ramifications of everything.” Trending

She noted that she finds it “pretty cool” that young Swift fans are getting into football because of the singer’s interest. “I can tell you this, that they’ve told me personally that the Kelce family has done more good PR for football than they could have paid a $1 million to a PR firm,” Donna confirmed.

The couple itself appears to be going strong, based on backstage pics from Sunday’s game posted by a friend on Instagram, and their recent weekend in New York, where the pair was seen walking hand-in-hand while hanging out in New York City. They also made surprise appearances during Saturday Night Live. Taylor Swift introducedmusical guest and her friend and collaborator Ice Spice during her second song of the night, “Pretty Girl” with Rema. Meanwhile, Kelce made a cameo on the same episode during host and SNL alum Pete Davidson’s skit, where he played a sideline reporter who is obsessed with Swift’s appearances at games.
