Ronaldo has easily been Juventus’ leading scorer in Italian Serie A competition this year, and he tallied four goals in four Champions League group stage matches. But it was fellow forward Álvaro Morata who led the team with six goals in the first segment of Champions League play.
Wednesday, as Juventus aims to take a step toward the quarterfinal round, it’ll likely rely on both Ronaldo and Morata to produce offensive firepower. The club failed to find the net in its two most recent matches, a rare sign of struggle for a talented attacking unit.
In the group stage of the Champions League, Juventus showcased its typical might, going 5-1-0 and amassing 14 goals.
Porto, the second place team in Portuguese Liga, went 4-1-1 in the group stage to advance to the Round of 16. Seven different players found the net in those six matches, and the club allowed just three goals.
Wednesday, Porto will aim to keep Ronaldo and Morata in check and position itself well to advance in the Champions League tournament. The second leg of this Round of 16 meeting is scheduled for March 9.
