Mets News: Mets making progress on deal for Javier Baez

The Mets appear to be making progress on a trade to acquire shortstop Javier Baez from the Chicago Cubs, according to Ken Rosenthal. Joel Sherman added that the deal could possibly include a pitcher,
Baez has played shorstop for the Cubs since debuting in 2014. Since then, he has hit .262/.303/.474 with 140 home runs, a 102 wRC+, and a 16.0 fWAR in 815 career games. Baez has been vocal in recent dates about wanting to play with Francisco Lindor, whom he is good friends with. The expectation is that he would play shortstop to start, and then would shift over to second base when Lindor returns from the IL.
The Mets have been looking to add a starting pitcher, which they might accomplish with this trade. Sherman did not specify whom they would be getting, but Rosenthal added that the Mets are talking about Zach Davies or Trevor Williams.
