Hocus Pocus 3 potential release date, cast and more

Disney has not confirmed Hocus Pocus 3 yet, but if Hocus Pocus 2 is a success, then it's impossible to rule out another return for Sanderson sisters.

The sequel is now available on Disney+. It has received positive reviews from critics, even if you were skeptical about it. Digital Spy loved the film.

No movie – not even a sequel released 29 years after the original – is immune from the cynical studio cycle, in which one sequel certainly isn't enough. Will there be a Hocus Pocus 3 movie?

It's impossible to know for certain... yet. There are clues that a third film featuring the Sanderson sisters may be possible.

Hocus Pocus 3 release date: When could Hocus Pocus 3 debut?

As we mentioned, Hocus Pocus 3 is still not officially confirmed by Disney. Therefore, there is no release date for the third installment.

We would hope that we wouldn't have to wait another 29 years for another movie. If the sequel is a hit, Disney might be able to move quickly with the Sanderson sisters on a second outing.

Even if that does happen, we doubt you'd see the third movie before Halloween 2024 – and that's assuming it even gets confirmed. Keep an eye out for updates.

Cast of Hocus Pocus 3: Who will return to Hocus Pocus 3 again?

We'd love to see Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Kathy Najimy return as Winnie, Sarah, and Mary Sanderson in the third movie.

Najimy teased that they won't say never, but she also said that the three stalwarts felt they were done with their roles. We have pulled out every story possible from this. It's impossible to say never, but it was a great experience. I don't know if there are plans for a second one.

Parker said that Najimy had the idea for a third animated film. Bette Midler, a Sanderson sister, is available to play another role as a witch.

Midler said that "If there were a third one, I would sign on, but it's not clear how." Although I don't know the story, I love Winifred and Sarah, as well as our relationship. It's good news for women.

"We stick together through hell, high water, but it is mayhem that we cause, and not many women cause as much mayhem!"

Doug Jones' Billy Butcher likely won't return given he, too, went on to the afterlife when Winnie disappeared at the end of the movie – her curse finally broken.

There are no other deaths so any of the cast of Hocus Pocus 2 could be back, including Whitney Peak as Becca, Belissa Escobedo as Izzy, Lilia Bingham as Cassie, Sam Richardson and Tony Hale.

Hocus Pocus 3 plot. How does Hocus Pocus 2 create a third movie?

The Sisters are revived in the second movie thanks to Becca (Whitney Peak), who lights the Black Flame candle in the woods along with Izzy (Belissa Eccobedo).

The movie ends with the candle being destroyed, but the post-credit scene shows that there is still another candle. Gilbert's cat (Sam Richardson), is seen running around the shop before coming down to rest in front a box labeled "BF #2 candle", which suggests that there is another one.

The twist in this story is that the Sanderson sisters die not by falling prey to the curse that makes their disappearance at sunrise on November 1. Mary and Sarah are instead victims of the spell Winnie casts to grant her total power.

Winnie asks Becca, a new witch, to cast a spell to reunite them but instead of it bringing Mary and Sarah back, it sends Winnie on to wherever they are – presumably some kind of afterlife.

It remains to be seen if another Black Flame candle will be able to call them back from the afterlife. However, it would certainly lessen their dramatic arc and we can only hope that, if a third movie is approved, it will take a completely new direction.
