Israel Unity Menorah Unity Parade and Hanukkah Event in Viera
Chabad of the Space &Treasure Coast presented the Israel Unity Menorah unity Parade, followed by a unity ceremony, a Chanukah concert by the Kavana Band, and a Menorah Lighting Ceremony at Chabad Viera, held Sunday, December 10.
SATELLITE BEACH — Brevard County residents may see some slight delays this afternoon as the annual Hanukkah Parade — with cars adorned with the eight-branch menorah attached to vehicles — winds its way from Satellite Beach to Viera with a 100-car procession.
The public event, part of the largest celebration of the eight-day Hanukkah festival, will end at The Avenue in Viera at 6729 Colonnade Ave. with The Snow Festival at Chabad Viera, featured food, acrobats, and the lighting of a giant menorah.
The Chabad of the Space and Treasure Coasts, based in Satellite Beach, is sponsoring the event. It has expanded its public menorah displays in several major Brevard cities, from Melbourne to Indialantic and Satellite Beach, in commemoration of the holiday.
"The menorah is a universal symbol of freedom and diversity. Its message is to take pride in one's own culture and ethnicity and enlighten the world with one's unique gifts," said Rabbi Mendel Osdoba of the Chabad, one of the parade organizers. "Having a menorah display brings much-needed joy and inspiration to many people of all ethnicities."
The vehicle procession with the decorated cars will leave the Satellite Beach location of Chabad on State Road A1A and then make its way to U.S. 1. The cars will arrive at The Avenue Viera about 4:30 p.m. where the Snow Festival will then get underway. The menorah will then be lit just before sundown, at about 5:30 p.m.
