GloRilla arrested in Georgia, faces DUI charge: Here's everything ...
Memphis rap artist GloRilla was arrested on DUI and other traffic and alcohol charges this week in Suwanee, Georgia, a suburb of Atlanta.
The 24-year-old rapper, whose birth name is Gloria Hallelujah Woods, was arrested at about 4:16 a.m. Tuesday, after a police officer noticed smells of marijuana in her car and "alcohol coming from her breath," according to the incident report of the arrest by the Suwanee Police Department.
Woods spoke in "sentences that were not always making sense," and was "unable to maintain balance" after exiting her vehicle, according to the police report.
After her arrest, she spent about three hours in the Gwinnett County Jail, until bail was posted on her behalf and she was released at about 9 a.m. Tuesday, according to the Gwinnett County Sheriff's Department.
GloRilla’s representative at Vital Versatility, a New York-based agency that also represents such artists as Yo Gotti, Megan Thee Stallion and Ne-Yo, did not immediately respond for comment Thursday.
According to Suwanee police, Woods, who lists a Marietta, Georgia, home address, was stopped after a patrol officer noticed a 2023 black Mercedes Benz Maybach with a Florida license plate make an illegal U-turn in an intersection. Woods was driving the car, according to police, accompanied by her brother, Donterris Anderson.
Rather than pulling to the curb, "the vehicle stopped in the middle of the roadway," according to the police report. Woods, the driver, spoke in sentences that "were not always making sense," and "she had a hard time finishing her thoughts," according to the arresting officer. She admitted drinking alcohol that evening, police said, but when asked how much alcohol she had consumed, Woods said "it does not matter," and that "she was good to drive."
After exiting the vehicle, Woods failed various "field sobriety evaluations," according to police. She could not maintain her balance or walk in a straight line, and her top slipped down, which she "did not realize" until informed by police, according to the report.
She was arrested on charges of driving while under the influence of alcohol; possessing an open alcoholic beverage container in a motor vehicle; and Failure to Obey Traffic Control Device (i.e., pulling a U-turn in an intersection with a traffic light). In addition, police found marijuana in the Mercedes Benz, according to the report.
