PREVIEW: UT Set for Georgia Diving Invite
Kicking off the new year, Tennessee diving will compete in the Georgia Diving Invitational on January 3-5.
ATHENS, Ga. – Kicking off the new year, Tennessee diving will compete in the Georgia Diving Invitational on January 3-5. The Vols and Lady Vols join Iowa State, Kentucky, La Salle, LSU, North Carolina, NC State and SMU along with the hosting Bulldogs to make up the field for the three-day meet. Each day's session will begin at 11:30 a.m. with men's and women's events running concurrently. Finals will begin 15 minutes following the conclusion of the prelim sessions. The meet will be streamed on SEC Network+. To open the week, the women's 3-meter and the men's 1-meter will highlight Friday's slate. On Saturday, the women will compete on platform, while the men will take on the 3-meter. Competition ends Sunday with the women's 1-meter and the men's platform. Tennessee is coming off a solid showing at the Auburn Diving Invite in December. Freshman Bennett Greene won the 1-meter competition with a personal-best score of 384.40, which also ranked ninth in the UT record books. He also took second on 3-meter to lead the Vols on springboard. Juniors Owen Redfearn and Nick Stone each added a pair of top-five finishes during the week, with Redfearn placing third on 3-meter and fourth on platform, while Stone was third on platform and fourth on 1-meter. Senior Maddie Reese took third on platform to post the highest finish by a Lady Vol during the meet and secure her spot in the event at the NCAA Zone B Diving Championships.
