WWE Extreme Rules 2022 appears to be a return of the gimmick-heavy origins of the pay-per view, with each match receiving some kind of stipulation.

This event promises to be brutal with an "I Quit" match and a Good Old Fashioned Donnybrook.

Who has the best chance to walk away with a win, with the Raw and SmackDown Women's Championships at stake and scores being settled in grudge matches?

Let's take a look at the card and make a final selection for Saturday's PPV.

Good Old Fashioned Donnybrook Match: Brawling Brutes vs. Imperium

1 of 6

Gunther and his Imperium teammates are safe to lose this Six-Man Tag Team Good Old Fashioned Donnybrook Match without the Intercontinental Championship on the line.

A loss for Imperium would mean Ridge Holland, Butch, or Sheamus would not be eligible for a title shot. But that belt isn’t going anywhere anytime soon so it would all balance out in end.

This is the only reason why The Brawling Brutes came out on top: to regain ground after The Celtic Warrior failed to win his quest to become the IC champ.

The overall picture shows Imperium's dominance. Gunther must win more matches to maintain his credibility.

    Prediction: Imperium wins.

'I Quit' Match: Edge vs. Finn Bálor

2 out of 6

Edge chose this clause under the premise that he will never quit. This would imply that he should win this logically.

He hasn't been to an "I Quit” match before so there's not a precedent to judge his chances.

Finn Bálor desperately needs a win to offset the string of shortcomings The Judgment Day have been racking up. They didn't win at SummerSlam or Clash at Castle. If Bálor loses here, why should anyone like AJ Styles join this group?

To recruit The Phenomenal One, Styles must see The Prince win to show Styles that he is by his side.

Perhaps Edge will lose in a more indirect way, unless WWE's plan is to put Bálor over emphatically to boost his status as a danger on the Raw roster.

    Prediction: Bálor wins.

Fight Pit Match: Matt Riddle vs. Seth Rollins

3 out of 6

It would be embarrassing for Matt Riddle to repeat his loss at Clash At The Castle with another failure here. Given that the Fight Pit should be easier ground for him than Seth Rollins, it would be embarrassing.

The Visionary does not have any mixed martial arts experience. However, The Original Bro is a UFC fighter. Riddle should be able to look at this situation and not tap out if he has to.

The unknown element that could swing this match is Daniel Cormier's presence in special guest referee. It all depends on how WWE uses him.

He could have a match against one of these two with Crown Jewel on November 5 after losing Saturday's fight. If Riddle is unable to fight, that could be an excuse. However, Rollins would be more logical to pick a fight if his ego gets in way of Cormier calling it straight down to the middle.

Riddle's ability to maneuver inside the Octagon cage will give him an edge if it is a fair fight.

    Prediction: Riddle wins.

Raw Women's Championship Ladder Match: Bianca Belair against Bayley

4 out of 6

Except for the random decision to make it a ladder match the feud between Bianca Belair & Bayley was about as generic as it gets.

Although they have had many matches together since before Bayley's injury last summer, The Role Model has only one singles win over Belair since 2020. Although she has four tag team wins over the current champions, that is nothing compared to Belair retaining a championship over Bayley twice at Wrestlemania Backlash and Hell in a Cell.

Bayley is not yet a multi-time champion, despite her status.

While The Role Model has seen her time in the sun, Belair is the star who needs to continue this run with the title to secure her legacy. It will be a hard fight, but The EST should win.

    Prediction: Belair wins.

Strap Match: Drew McIntyre against Karrion Kross

5 out of 6

Drew McIntyre might use a win to offset his loss to Roman Reigns at Clash at Castle, but it's much more important to establish Karrion Kross by giving Karrion Kross the win at Extreme Rules.

Kross did have his moments in NXT where he stood tall, but Drew Gulak is the only win he has since his return to WWE in August.

Scarlett will be flanking The Herald of Doomsday. Scarlett can interfere with or distract The Scottish Warrior. She could be the difference-maker that changes the odds Saturday night.

Sometimes, a strap match can be finished without a pinfall. WWE has yet not clarified if this bout can also be won by touching turnbuckles. This would give McIntyre more room to lose without losing credibility.

Kross must project a threatening image if he wants to be able to win this award to prove his power.

    Prediction: Kross wins.

SmackDown Women's Championship Extreme Rules Match: Liv Morgan against Ronda Rousey

6 out of 6

Liv Morgan is no longer considered a strong champion and her time with this title is coming to an end.

She has retained the title of The Rowdy One over Ronda Rousey since cashing in her Money in the Bank contract in July on a weaker Ronda Rousey. This was due to pinning her and simultaneously tapping out.

Morgan beat Shayna Baszler at Clash at the Castle by a narrow margin, and now Morgan faces a determined and dangerous Rousey who will be capable of using weapons in this bout.

As WWE moves closer to Wrestlemania season, Morgan is the more important wrestler than The Baddest Woman on the Planet. It's no surprise that she will be back at the top of SmackDown as the title holder.

    Prediction: Rousey wins.
