^Newbie? Obsessive? Zack Snyder fiend? Our guide to HBO's 'Watchmen' has you covered

^TV-WATCHMEN-GUIDE:LA—

Instead, the showrunner has described his HBO series, which premieres Sunday, as more of a "remix," albeit one that treats the 12-issue comic as canon: The new series does not alter any of the events that happen in its source material.

The series does not require any previous knowledge of the "Watchmen" comics, though having some familiarity will definitely help.

^'Parasite' director Bong Joon Ho on his Cannes winner, a thriller rooted in class conflict

^MOVIE-PARASITE-BONG:LA—

"HE CONFESSED," said director Bong, wide-eyed with astonishment.

Weeks earlier, Korean authorities had announced the identification of a suspect in the infamous Hwaseong serial killings that inspired Bong's second film, "Memories of Murder," the searing 2003 true-crime drama he directed at age 34. The slayings had shocked and terrified the country three decades ago, the trail long gone cold.

On this morning in 2019, Korean media were reporting that the suspect had confessed. Bong, now 50, with seven feature films and the Cannes Film Festival's Palme d'Or for "Parasite" under his belt, was floored by the news.

^Nashville 'wild card' Miranda Lambert brings an all-women lineup on tour

^MUS-LAMBERT:MS—

"I've been doing this for a living for 17 years, and I've gone with my gut, not with what was popular or what would make the most money," said the soft-spoken Lambert, 35. "And it's worked."

This time her gut told her to enlist only women as openers on her current Roadside Bars & Pink Guitars Tour, which features bluesy rocker Elle King, acclaimed country newcomer Ashley McBryde and Lambert's own side project Pistol Annies.

"It's really cool to have a bunch of girls out here that all offer something totally different artistically but have the same goal," she said. "I love seeing the newer artists and helping them if they need it and being inspired by their energy."

^Scarypoolparty's world has blown up since 'American Idol'

^MUS-SCARYPOOLPARTY:TB—

The singer-songwriter, 25, was one of the only "Idol" finalists to ever perform songs he'd written himself, which may be part of the reason he only came in second, and the judges were fulsome in their praise. "I just feel like I'm in the presence of greatness," said Luke Bryan. Katy Perry asked if she could roadie for Aranda on his almost-instantly-sold-out first headlining tour. Stevie Nicks said he made her cry (she wasn't actually a judge, but still).
