Gervonta Davis vs. Hector Luis Garcia live fight updates, results ...

The time for talking is over. Gervonta Davis and Hector Luis Garcia are ready to speak with their fists when they face off for the WBA (Regular) lightweight title. Will Garcia score an upset inside Washington, D.C.’s Capitol One Arena, or will Davis defend his title and add another knockout to his impressive resume? 

A three-division champion, Davis won the WBA (Regular) lightweight title against Yuriorkis Gamboa in 2019. Davis has since won four in a row, his last fight a TKO win against Rolando Romero in May. 

Davis's title defense is clouded by ongoing legal battles.

There was originally some speculation that this fight could be postponed or called off after Davis was arrested for a domestic violence incident late December. Booked on one charge of Battery Causing Bodily Harm, Davis’ accuser later retracted what she stated on a 911 call, previously indicating that she was in danger. While the bout vs. Garcia continues, Davis is set to appear in court in February for his alleged involvement in a hit-and-run incident in November 2020.

A win against Garcia may bring Davis closer to a fight against Ryan Garcia, tentatively agreed upon for April in Las Vegas. He is looking to make the most of his upcoming fight while not dismissing his opponent. 

“There’s been a lot of talk from other fighters in the division. I’m putting them on notice with this fight and the Ryan fight,” David stated at the pre-fight press conference. “I can’t get to Ryan unless I get past Hector. I’m showing everyone that I’m one of the elite guys. 

An underdog in the fight (Davis the -1200 favorite and Garcia the +700 underdog, per BetMGM), Garcia is ready to put on a show fans won’t forget. 

“The bottom line for me is that I can fight at whatever distance the fight requires me to,” Garcia stated before the fight. “I can use my reach or my power. I’m going to be ready. Gervonta better watch out on Saturday night. Because he lit the competitive fire under me when he put his hands on me during the face off. The real Garcia is right here."

Gervonta Davis vs. Hector Luis Garcia live results, updates   Demetrius Andrade cruises past Demond Nicholson, wins super-middleweight debut

Per CompuBox, the 28 punches landed by Nicholson is the seventh-fewest landed in a ten-round fight. 

10:05 p.m. ET: A push in round seven saves Nicholson. Andrade is showing, like recent fights, he can be lackadaisical when it comes to finishing bouts. His eye is compromised in round eight but he still is the leading man. Combinations in the ninth back Nicholson up. Combination hooks in the tenth pushes Nicholson back. Right hand forces Nicholson's glove to touch the canvas. Andrade won via unanimous decision (100-88, 100-88, 100-88).

9:50 p.m. ET: Nicholson pushed Andrade back in round four, but Andrade wouldn't give in. Andrade with combinations. Down goes Andrade in round five, but the referee might have cut him some slack. A no-call. Jabs by Nicholson but Andrade fires back. The replay made it seem like a knockdown. jab by Nicholson lands on Andrade's eye in the sixth, which hurt the former champion. Combinations from Andrade land, but Nicholson eggs him on. Andrade smothers Nicholson, who has not landed double-digit blows in any round.

9:35 p.m. ET: Andrade continued to press forward. Body shots landed and then head shots followed. Combination shots knocked down Nicholson in round two. Round three saw Andrade push Nicholson into the ropes. Nicholson is moving back, trying to tire out Andrade. Fast punches by Andrade connect. Nicholson has an injury but the fight continues. Smelling blood, Andrade attacks the body. Hooks now connect.

9:25 p.m. ET: Right as the bell rang, Andrade landed shots in the corner. Known for starting hot, Andrade can slow down as the fight goes on. There was a clash of heads early on, forcing the referee to pause the fight. Andrade landed more shots to the body and head, forcing Nicholson into the corner. Counter shots continued to land as Andrade looked crisp to open the fight. 

9:20 p.m. ET: Here comes Demetrius Andrade, the former WBO middleweight champion, ready to compete in super-middleweight action against Demond Nicholson.

9:08 p.m. ET: Brian Custer brings up Gervonta Davis' recent domestic violence situation right as the Showtime PPV broadcast began. He and the woman involved will be undergoing counseling.

9 p.m. ET: The main card of Davis-Garcia has begun!

Prior to the main card, the YouTube prelims took place. Kyrone Davis def. Cristian Rios via unanimous decision (80-72, 80-72 and 79-73). Keyshawn Williams def. Gustavo Vittori via unanimous decision (60-54, 60-54, 60-54), and Jalil Hackett def. Joel Guevara via KO (2:22 into round one). Meanwhile, Brandun Lee def. Diego Luque via stoppage (2:55 in the fourth).
