Colorado football capped off one of the program’s best regular seasons this century emphatically.
With their Big 12 championship and College Football Playoff hopes still technically alive, coach Deion Sanders and the Buffaloes got plenty of potentially precious style points, with a 52-0 win over Oklahoma State in their matchup Friday.
Shedeur Sanders threw for 438 yards to become the program’s single-season passing yardage leader, LaJohntay Wester had 175 receiving yards and two touchdowns and the Colorado defense held the Cowboys to just 147 total offensive yards.

Among that slew of standouts, no star shined brighter than Travis Hunter.
The Buffs’ two-way standout polished off his already-sterling Heisman Trophy resume with one of his best games of the season, one in which he had a pronounced impact on seemingly every facet of the game.

In what might be his final game before the trophy is handed out on Dec. 14, the Colorado star wide receiver/cornerback left a strong impression with Heisman voters — and wasted little time doing it.
The 6-foot-1 junior had an interception on the game’s first possession, helping set up a touchdown drive for his team to get an early, and ultimately decisive, lead. He added two pass deflections later in the game.
Offensively, he had three touchdowns catches, tying a program single-game record. His 14 touchdown receptions in 2024 are a Colorado single-season record. He punctuated his final touchdown catch, a 23-yard grab from Shedeur Sanders, by striking the Heisman pose.

The next-closest player, according to USA TODAY's Heisman power rankings, was Boise State running back Ashton Jeanty (+750). The only other player whom the odds gives a decent chance of winning is Oregon quarterback Dillon Gabriel, at +1200 odds.
