CEDARVILLE, Ohio - Walsh never trailed, but had to hold off the Yellow Jackets, 80-79, for a key G-MAC result at the Callan Athletic Center.
Timothy Davis pumped in 21 points for Cedarville, 10-14 overall and 5-12 G-MAC.
Sam Johnson totaled 19 points and seven boards while Anthony Ruffolo racked up 13 points, four assists, and four steals.
The Jackets trailed 63-52 with nine minutes remaining and then began to chip away.
Ruffolo's layup trimmed the difference to 77-76 with 24 seconds to go.
Walsh made one-of-two free throws, but CU committed a costly turnover at the 5.2 second mark.
The Cavs iced it with two free throws and Ethan Sellars' three-pointer accounted for the final with 0.3 seconds on the clock.
It was the 102nd meeting between the two longtime rivals in a series that began in the 1965-66 season.
