Trey McBride finally grabs a TD catch
Cardinals tight end Trey McBride is finally off the schneid.
Kyler Murray threw a 2-yard touchdown pass to McBride and the Cardinals' leading receiver this season finally has his first touchdown reception of the season.
It completed a 13-play, 68-yard drive by the Cardinals to open the second half at SoFi Stadium. McBride caught three passes for 23 yards during the possession and now has six receptions for 68 yards on the night.
The Rams blocked Chad Ryland's extra-point attempt, however.
Score: Rams 10, Cardinals 6 (8:31 left in the third quarter)
FG gives Rams 10-0 halftime lead
A somewhat controversial play went in the Rams' favor toward the end of the first half and it would end up helping Los Angeles score on its second straight possession.
The play in question involved a completion from Matthew Stafford to wide receiver Puka Nacua that went for 10 yards and a first down, although replays showed his elbow appeared to be down before the first-down marker.
There was no video booth replay, Cardinals coach Jonathan Gannon did not throw a challenge flag, and the play held up in LA's favor.
Stafford then completed back-to-back passes to Nacua for 25 and seven yards and after consecutive incompletions, the Rams got a 53-yard field goal from Joshua Karty to make it 10-0 with 27 seconds left in the second quarter.
Kyler Murray, meanwhile, was sacked for a 6-yard loss on Arizona's ensuing possession to send the game into halftime.
Despite trailing, the Cardinals hold the edge in time of possession, 18:12 to 11:48, and they're holding their own in total yards, trailing 167 to 140.
Murray is 13 of 19 for 124 yards and Stafford is 8 of 20 for 123 yards. Nacua leads all receivers with six receptions for 88 yards and Arizona's Trey McBride has four catches for 46 yards.
Rams lead 7-0 on Kyren Williams' TD
The Rams went 60 yards on nine plays and scored on a 1-yard touchdown, second effort run by Kyren Williams.
Big plays included a 29-yard completion from Matthew Stafford to Cooper Kupp, a 15-yard catch and run by Puka Nacua, and a 12-yard scramble by Stafford.
Earlier, the Cardinals got into Rams’ territory on their fourth possession of the game and looked like they were going to be on their way to a score of some sort midway through the second quarter.
A 34-yard pass completion from Kyler Murray to tight end Trey McBride, however, was wiped out because of an illegal-man-downfield penalty on Arizona rookie lineman Isaiah Adams. The flag moved the ball back, well out of field goal range, and the Cardinals were forced to punt.
Running back James Conner, active but playing with a sore knee, left the game during that series but has yet to be ruled out.
Score: Rams 7, Cardinals 0 (3:23 left in second quarter)
We're scoreless after the first quarter in LA
The first quarter between the Cardinals and Rams is over and done at Sofi Stadium and the game remains scoreless.
There have been five punts, three by the Rams and two by the Cardinals, but Arizona is driving.
Quarterback Kyler Murray has completed seven of his first eight passes for 76 yards, including two to tight end Trey McBride for 41 yards.
The Cardinals lead in total yards, 82-46
Score: Cardinals 0, Rams 0 (end of first quarter)
