Carabao Cup quarter-final draw: Chelsea to play Newcastle ...

Chelsea will face Newcastle United in the quarter-final of the Carabao Cup.

Newcastle reached the quarter-final by beating Manchester United 3-0 at Old Trafford in the round of 16, after beating Manchester City 1-0 at St James’ Park in the third round. Chelsea beat Blackburn Rovers 2-0 at Stamford Bridge to progress.

Everton convincingly beat Burnley 3-0 at Goodison Park in the previous round while Fulham beat Championship high-flyers Ipswich Town 3-1 at Portman Road.

Liverpool secured a 2-1 victory away to Bournemouth while West Ham United sealed an impressive victory over Arsenal at the London Stadium.

League One’s Port Vale, in the quarter-final for the first time in the club’s history, will host Championship side Middlesbrough — who beat Exeter 3-2 — after their 1-0 victory over Mansfield Town on Tuesday.

That means there is guaranteed to be an English Football League club in the semi-finals.

The quarter-final ties will be played in the week of December 18.
