Bryce James, son of NBA star LeBron James, commits to Arizona ...
Arizona finished 2024 on a high note, opening its first season of Big 12 basketball with a solid home win over TCU. Though it hasn’t played another game, 2025 has gotten off to a pretty notable start.
The Wildcats have landed a commitment from Bryce James, the youngest son of LeBron James, for their 2025 recruiting class.
The 6-foot-4, 190-pound James is a 3-star prospect who is ranked by 247Sports as the No. 289 prospect in the country and the 46th-best shooting guard in the class. While those rankings aren’t nearly as high as the kind of players the UA normally recruits, James more than makes up for it in name recognition.
James has more than two million followers on Instagram and another 700,000 on TikTok, numbers that made his visit to Arizona in November go viral after he attended the UA-Duke game.
Duquesne, Ohio State and USC were the other schools that had offered James, who according to 247Sports’ Adam Finkelstein describes as “a fundamentally sound player with solid perimeter size and a good early skillset. He possesses clear shooting potential with naturally soft touch, compact release, and the ability to make both threes and pull-ups. His left hand is advanced for his age and he also has a good early understanding of the game. Physically, he has a solid build for an underclassman, but is still just growing into his body a bit and so far from a finished product.”
Adding James will put the UA program under the spotlight as was the case last year for USC when it signed Bronny James. Bronny averaged 4.8 points in 26 games with the Trojans before getting picked in the second round of the 2024 NBA Draft by the Los Angeles Lakers, enabling him to play alongside LeBron.
James is the second commitment for Arizona in the 2025 class joining Dwayne Aristode, a 5-star wing who signed in November. The Wildcats are also pursuing 5-star guard Brayden Burries—James’ teammate at Sierra Canyon High School in California—and 5-star forward Koa Peat.
