The Acting Governor of Central bank, appointed by the Presidential Council, Abdel Fattah Abdel Ghaffar, stressed the need to open electronic clearing between banks in the east and west of the country in an effective and urgent manner, in accordance with banking and legal procedures.
He also referred to coordinating with the Ministry of Interior to enhance security of banks including their branches throughout the country.
This came in a meeting with directors of public and private banks and their representatives, according to a statement posted by the Central Bank's Facebook page.
The statement further explained that the meeting discussed the issue of disbursing salaries to public sectors in the country on time, and addressing the liquidity shortage crisis in banks to alleviate the suffering of citizens, in addition to developing electronic payment systems.
