Two teams hunting for a bye to the Champions League Round of 16 clash in England as Arsenal host French side AS Monaco at the Emirates on Wednesday.

Tuesday's results temporarily bumped Arsenal from a playoff round bye as they come into the match 10th in the UCL league phase table, but the Gunners can reassert their intent with victory here. So too, however, can Monaco, who are one place below Arsenal in the table only thanks to a one-goal differential gap.

It's been tough sledding for the Gunners this season, but they've hit a bit of a stride recently with six unbeaten. They have been exceptional on set pieces, but are struggling to create chances from open play.

Monaco are enjoying a strong campaign, but have a lot of work to do with a backloaded Champions League schedule. Aston Villa and Inter still remain on their fixture list to close out the league phase, along with a Trophee des Champions final against PSG in early January looming as well.

Arsenal vs. Monaco prediction, odds

  • Moneyline lean: Arsenal (-350 on BetMGM)
  • Score prediction: Arsenal 2-1 AS Monaco

Monaco have a strong position in the UCL table, but they haven't been tested in quite a while. Their win over Barcelona to start the process is a quality result, but it came largely thanks to a 10th minute red card that left Barca shorthanded the whole match. Since, they've beaten the likes of Red Star and Bologna alongside a draw with Dinamo Zagreb and a home loss to Benfica.

Arsenal haven't exactly been convincing, but they've been better as the roster gets healthy and players shake off poor form. The Gunners should be able to shake off their opponents here at home to reaffirm a top eight position.

Arsenal vs. Monaco best bet

  • Pick: Both teams to score — Yes
  • Odds: -110 (BetMGM)

The odds are skewed heavily in favor of Arsenal, which is understandable. While it feels too heavily weighted towards the hosts, there's not enough confidence in a Monaco result to play the other side. What we can lean on, however, is even money to back the visitors to score.

Arsenal have conceded in three of their last four matches, and Monaco have been one of the best finishing teams in Europe this year. Their +2.62 goals/xG differential puts them eighth, and their xGOT-xG differential of +3.43 means they are the second-best team in the competition at making the most of their chances, behind only Borussia Dortmund.

Arsenal vs. Monaco prop bet

  • Pick: Kai Havertz anytime goal scorer
  • Odds: +120 (BetMGM)

While these odds aren't exactly thrilling, Kai Havertz is due to find the back of the net in the worst way. Havertz has just one goal in his last three Premier League games, despite racking up six high-value shots worth a wonderfully efficient 1.50 xG. He's done work in the Champions League, scoring twice in five appearances.

What's more, Havertz has done most of his damage at home, bagging six of his nine goals at the Emirates this season across all competitions. All of the German's most important goals came at home, as those away from home came in 7-0, 5-2, and 3-0 wins. Expect him to play a big part in this home game.
