The two major primary races in the U.S. House for Minnesotans were Minnesota's Fifth Congressional District between incumbent U.S. Rep. Ilhan Omar and challenger former City Council member Don Samuels and Minnesota's Seventh Congressional District, where incumbent U.S. Rep. Michell Fischbach (R-Minnesota) faced a challenge from businessman Steve Boyd.

Minnesota's First Congressional District

In Minnesota's First Congressional District, incumbent Brad Finstad won the Republican nomination for U.S. House. He'll face Rachel Bohman, who is the Democratic nominee in an uncontested race.

Minnesota's Second Congressional District

Incumbent Angie Craig won the Democratic nomination for U.S. House in Minnesota's Second Congressional District. She'll face off against challenger Joe Teirab, who won the Republican nomination in Minnesota's Second Congressional District. The race is expected to be Minnesota's most competitive House race in November.

In a statement, Craig said she is running to represent Minnesota's Second Congressional District because it is her home.

"I know these folks. They value their freedoms and independence. That’s a value I share deeply – and a value that has driven my work in Congress. But my opponent, Joe Teirab, is a guy who recently moved to the district because he saw a political opportunity. He’s a guy who has spent months doing anything to win the support of Washington Republicans. And he’s a guy who has made it his life’s mission to take away reproductive freedoms from families and give those decisions to politicians. That’s not valuing independence, that’s not valuing freedom. That’s party loyalty – and that’s not what this district is about," Craig said in her statement, noting she'll see Teirab "on the debate stage."

Teirab, a former federal prosecutor, has the support of former President Donald Trump, House Speaker Mike Johnson and the National Republican Congressional Committee. He faced defense attorney Tayler Rahm, who won the endorsement at the district convention with support from grassroots conservatives. Rahm announced in July he was suspending his campaign and would instead serve as a senior adviser for Trump's Minnesota campaign, but he remained on the ballot.

In a statement, Teirab said:

"I am honored to have won the trust and support of my neighbors in Minnesota’s Second Congressional District. Tonight’s definitive results send a clear message that Republicans are united and ready for change. We are ready to support candidates who will strengthen our economy, secure the border, and restore safety in our communities," said Teirab. "I’m looking forward to continuing to prosecute the case against Angie Craig and bring back common sense solutions to our district. Whether it’s record inflation, the chaos at the border, or the crime plaguing our communities, the Biden-Harris-Craig agenda has failed our district and our nation. We can do better."

Minnesota's Third Congressional District

Democrat Kelly Mirrison will face Republican Tad Jude in November. They both ran unopposed in their primaries.

Minnesota's Fourth Congressional District

Incumbent Betty McCollum won the Democratic primary in an uncontested race. She'll face the winner of the Republican primary, either May Lor Xiong or Gene Rechtzigel.

Minnesota's Fifth Congressional District

U.S. Rep. Ilhan Omar is the projected winner of the Democratic primary in Minnesota's Fifth Congressional District after she defeated Don Samuels.

The race between Omar, the incumbent, and Samuels, a former City Council member, is a rematch from 2022, when Omar narrowly beat Samuels in the primary and went on to win the general election.

Omar was better prepared going into the 2024 primary compared to the 2022 primary. Omar has improved her fundraising over the past two years with this year’s pre-primary financial report showing she raised about $6.2 million, while Samuels about $1.4 million.

Omar will face off against Dalia Al-Aqidi, who won the uncontested Republican primary.

Minnesota's Sixth Congressional District

In other races, incumbent Tom Emmer won the Republican nomination for U.S. House in Minnesota's Sixth Congressional District, according to The Associated Press. In a statement Tuesday night, Emmer said, "I can’t thank the great people of Minnesota’s Sixth District enough for entrusting me with their vote. We’re one step closer to expanding our majority in the House, flipping the Senate, and sending President Trump back to the White House. Onward to November."

Emmer will face Jeanne Hendricks, who won the Democratic nomination for Minnesota's Sixth Congressional District, in the November election.

Minnesota's Seventh Congressional District

Incumbent Michelle Fischbach won the Republican nomination for U.S. House in Minnesota's Seventh Congressional District. She beat out Boyd, who has been referred to as a Christian conservative. Neither Republican got the GOP's endorsement in the race but Fischbach does have former President Donald Trump's endorsement.

Fischbach will face Republican AJ (John) Peters, who didn't have a primary challenger, in the general election in November.

Minnesota's Eighth Congressional District

Incumbent Pete Stauber won the Republican nomination for U.S. House in Minnesota's Eighth Congressional District. He'll face Jen Schultz, who won the Democratic nomination, this November.

U.S. Senate primary results: Klobuchar, White declared winners

In the race for U.S. Senate, incumbent Amy Klobuchar (D-Minnesota) was declared the winner in the Democratic primary by The Associated Press. She was heavily favored to win her primary as she seeks her fourth term on the November ballot.

However, several Republican candidates, including Royce White and Joe Fraser, sought to challenge her by winning their August primary.

White, 33, of Hopkins, was declared the winner. He is a former Iowa State and NBA basketball player who lost in the 2022 Minnesota Fifth Congressional District Republican primary. He became politically active after George Floyd was murdered in Minneapolis, and won the GOP party endorsement in May.

White beat out Fraser and several others in the primary.

Minnesota State Senate special election primary results

Here's a look at the Minnesota State Senate District 45 special election results.

At the state level, control of the Minnesota Senate will be decided this November. Kelly Morrison, a Democrat, resigned her seat as she seeks to be elected to Congress, representing Minnesota's Third Congressional District. As a result, there will be a special election for District 45, which includes portions of Minnetonka, Wayzata and Orono, in the Minnesota Senate.

That race could determine if Democrats or Republicans control the state Senate (after Morrison's departure, representation in the state Senate is tied 33-33).

Ann Johnson Stewart won the primary. She will face off against Republican Kathleen Fowke for the seat. for the seat.

Will Stancil, Katie Jones and Isabel Rolfes are running in the Democratic primary after Rep. Frank Hornstein decided not to seek reelection in 2024 after 22 years of service in the Minnesota Legislature. He won more than 98% of the vote in the 2022 general election.

House District 61A includes a portion of downtown Minneapolis and the area around Cedar Lake and Lake of the Isles in Minneapolis.
