Russell Westbrook makes unusual LA Lakers request as LeBron ...
Russell Westbrook has claimed he is hoping to collect an NBA Championship ring if the LA Lakers secure this year’s title, despite leaving the franchise in February. The Lakers are chasing their 18th NBA Championship, currently battling against the Golden State Warriors in the play-offs.
The teams that come away with the end-of-season trophy all receive an individual prize too, with each player gifted a championship-winning ring for their efforts. Westbrook played his part in the early stages of the season, but now finds himself across the city at the LA Clippers.
Despite his new-found allegiances, the Clippers believes he is entitled to his NBA ring if the Lakers get over the line. The proposal was discussed by another former Lakers man in Patrick Beverley.
Like Westbrook he too competed for the Lakers across the first half of the season, before going on to finish the season with the Chicago Bulls. Speaking on his ‘Pat Bev Podcas’t, Beverley revealed he bumped into his old teammate in the gym, who told him: “Hey Pat, Lakers win I want my ring."
Beverley then responded: “Russ, we gonna be suited and booted, boy, I'm gonna be right there waiting on that ring," The idea has been slammed by a number of NBA fans, with the former duo no longer part of the Lakers roster.
