'Happy Gilmore 2' starring Adam Sandler confirmed by Netflix
It’s official: “Happy Gilmore 2,” a sequel to the 1996 hit comedy, is in production, Netflix announced Wednesday.
Adam Sandler, who played the title character in the original film, will reprise his role as Happy Gilmore, a failed hockey player turned hot-headed golfer who won the 1996 Tour Championship and saved his grandma’s house from being repossessed by the IRS due to delinquent taxes.
In addition to Sandler, actor Christopher McDonald will return as Shooter McGavin, Gilmore’s golf nemesis. It remains unclear what the plot for ‘Happy Gilmore 2′ is or when the film will be released.

Rumors of “Happy Gilmore 2″ have swirled for months, with both Sandler and McDonald teasing the sequel in recent interviews.
“We’re working on it,” Sandler told The Dan Patrick Show in April. “Me and (writer Tim) Herlihy are diligently trying to make a good reason for everyone to watch it and have a good time. Netflix is excited about it. So we’re working on it. We’ve got some good ideas.”
“I saw Adam about two weeks ago and he says, ‘McDonald, you’re gonna love this,’” McDonald told 92.3 The Fan in March. “He shows me the first draft of ‘Happy Gilmore 2.’ I guess maybe you should cut that out (of the audio). I don’t want to be a liar, but he did show me that, and I thought, ‘well, that would be awesome.’ So it’s in the works. Fans demand it, damn it.”
