Bayern Munich vs. Viktoria Plzen - Football Match Report - October 4, 2022

Bayern Munich scored three goals in the first 21 minutes to defeat Viktoria Plzen in Champions League. This result placed them at the top of Group C and set a new record for longest unbeaten run in group matches.

The Germans have won 31 of the 31 group matches without losing, surpassing the mark set by Real Madrid.

After their 4-0 league victory over Bayer Leverkusen, Saturday's win ended a four-game losing streak in the Bundesliga. They now have nine goals in all competitions.

Leroy Sane scored in the seventh minute, Serge Gnabry five seconds later and Sadio Mae in 21st to quickly put the hosts in control.

The Bavarians will face Borussia Dortmund in Saturday's Bundesliga's Der Klassiker. They were unable to resist the Czechs and made full use of any gaps in their defense.

"The lads did it really well. Julian Nagelsmann, Bayern coach, said that this is how to approach a match. "It was resolved relatively quickly, and then the game kind of trundled along."

"But that matured with an eye on Saturday is not to play out every attack. It was a great game to see how we are moving in the right direction.

Despite missing Joshua Kimmich and Thomas Muller due to COVID-19 they dominated their opponents with their passing game. Jamal Musiala should've made it 4-0 in 25th, but he only had the keeper to beat and fired his shot against Marian Tvrdon.

After a quick move from the Germans, the Germany international thought he had made amends for the 36th when he shot past Tvrdon. However, his attempt was disqualified.

Bayern continued to play where they left off following the break, with Sane latching onto a perfect lofted Mane pass to fire five minutes after the restart.

Substitute Eric Maxim Choupo–Moting scored with a shot from the post just before the hour mark. This completed the rout and placed Bayern on top of the group with nine points from three games.

Inter Milan and Barcelona will face off on Tuesday, each with three points.
