Deontay Wilder vs. Zhilei Zhang: Fight Odds, Live Stream, Predictions

There are several reasons to tune in to Queensbury and Matchroom's unique 5v5 pay-per-view event going down in Saudi Arabia on Saturday, but the heavyweight collision between Deontay Wilder and Zhilei Zhang is one of the main attractions.

The card features five bouts that will pit promoters Frank Warren and Eddie Hearn against each other. Five of Warren's Queensbury fighters will meet Hearn's Matchroom boxers in a night of fights that also includes two world championship fights.

Dmitry Bivol will be putting the WBA light heavyweight championship on the line against Malik Zinad, but Deontay Wilder's first appearance in the ring since his upset loss to Joseph Parker will still draw a lot of attention.

He'll meet Queensbury's Zhilei Zhang in a heavyweight clash of two heavy-handed knockout artists coming off losses to Parker. Here's a look at all the info you need to catch the bout as well as a preview and prediction.

There might not be a belt on the line but there's plenty at stake for these two aging heavyweights. Wilder is actually three years younger at 38 while Zhang is 41.

It's fair to wonder how much either of them has left to give.

The winner of the fight can stick around in the heavyweight picture. There isn't an abundance of drawing power in the division right now and either would have some momentum after their recent losses.

However, the loser should be taking a good, long look at retirement.

The reason motivation and career placement is are important elements to this fight is that neither man has been known for volume in their career. Wilder is a knockout artist in the purest sense. He doesn't look to win rounds, he looks to end the fight.

That cost him against Parker and it's a key storyline to watch as this fight progresses.

At the same time, Zhang isn't one to do well over the distance either. He hasn't won a decision since 2019, dropping a majority decision to Parker and a unanimous decision to Filip Hrgović in 2022.

Zhang has a pattern of finishing fights early or withering over the second half and losing a decision.

The result could be an uneven fight that sees a good amount of action in the opening rounds before fatigue sets in.

Prediction

This one is as close to a coin flip as you can get in the heavyweight division. If Zhang clips Wilder in the first few rounds it could be a short night. If Wilder can't pull the trigger on his vicious right hand then he doesn't have much of a shot either.

Either fighter is capable of finishing the bout in the first round or at a moment's notice. But both are relatively durable in their own right.

Wilder's conditioning could be the difference here. He isn't a typical round-winner, but he should be the more fresh fighter as this one gets to the latter rounds where he could score one more highlight-reel knockout.
