Jets' Zach Wilson ruled out with knee injury vs. Patriots; Mike White enters
New York Jets rookie quarterback Zach Wilson will undergo an MRI after leaving Sunday's 54-13 loss to the New England Patriots in the second quarter with a knee injury. Wilson said the injury is to the PCL in his right knee.
Wilson was hit by Matt Judon after releasing a pass, and he remained down for a minute or two, receiving treatment from trainers. He had also been hit low by Lawrence Guy while scrambling near the sideline two plays earlier. Wilson limped off the field to the medical tent before going to the locker room a few minutes later.
Wilson said after the game that his knee doesn't hurt but feels "off" and "loose." He heard a "pop" and thought the worst, he said.
He was 6-of-10 for 51 yards before the injury. Backup Mike White, who had never thrown a pass in an NFL game, entered and threw a 3-yard touchdown to Corey Davis on his first career attempt to cut the Jets' deficit to 17-7. White finished 20-of-32 for 202 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions.
The Patriots gained 551 yards en route to the blowout victory to improve to 3-4. It was the most points the Jets (1-5) have allowed since the Patriots beat them 56-3 in 1979.
