Hundreds of Flights Canceled Tuesday at DFW Airport Dallas Love
Hundreds of flights out of North Texas airports have been canceled and delayed due to winter weather blanketing Dallas-Fort Worth.
What to Know

Hundreds of flights out of North Texas airports have been canceled Monday and Tuesday as winter weather continues to cause trouble in the Dallas-Fort Worth area.

A Winter Storm Warning was issued for counties across North Texas on Monday morning until noon Wednesday.

North Texans can expect freezing rain, sleet, and ice in the affected area. Ice accumulations of one-tenth to one-quarter of an inch are possible. Road conditions are expected to deteriorate during the event.

For travelers hoping to catch a flight at an airport in North Texas, it is important to plan ahead as these delays and cancellations are expected to last throughout the duration of the Winter Storm Warning.

TUESDAY FLIGHT CANCELLATIONS, DELAYS IN DFW

According to the flight-tracking website FlightAware, on Monday evening 283 flights scheduled to leave DFW Tuesday had already been canceled. Another 253 that were headed into DFW had also been canceled.

At Dallas Love Field, 67 flights out of Dallas on Tuesday have been canceled along with 60 that were headed to Dallas.

Only a handful of flights are showing as delayed on Monday afternoon, though that's expected to change overnight.

MONDAY FLIGHT CANCELLATIONS, DELAYS IN DFW

According to FlightAware, 161 flights out of Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport had been canceled due to the wintry weather as of 9:20 p.m. on Monday. An additional 423 flights were delayed. Inbound, another 197 flights have been canceled and 191 delayed.

DFW Airport tweeted they were "making the necessary preparations for the potential of winter weather this week. Customers should check with their airline before coming to the airport for the latest status of their flight."

At Dallas Love Field, as of 9:20 p.m., 108 flights were canceled and 34 flights were delayed, FlightAware reported. Inbound, 115 flights are canceled and 28 are delayed.

About 4,700 flights were delayed nationwide.

Beyond Texas, forecasters said ice could accumulate in neighboring Oklahoma and Arkansas and stretch east into the Deep South and Midwest this week. Schools and colleges in Texas, Oklahoma and Arkansas planned to close or go to virtual learning Tuesday.

Monday’s disruptions follow Southwest’s meltdown in December that began with a winter storm but continued after most other airlines had recovered. Southwest canceled about 16,700 flights over the last 10 days of the year, and the U.S. Transportation Department is investigating.
