Young Iowa leaders visit Washington, D.C.

WASHINGTON (Gray DC) - Some of the very ambitious rising High School seniors in the American Legion Auxiliary aren’t even old enough to vote, but that’s not stopping them from diving headfirst into the civic process.
“Being in Washington with the American Legion Auxiliary has been one of the greatest experiences of my life,” said Tori Paga.
Thursday morning, she met with Senator Joni Ernst.
“Just connecting with the people who represent us as we’re entering into adulthood. It’s something that’s incredibly important,”
Later, she and her friends got a sit-down with Senator Chuck Grassley, who offered this sage advise to these future politicians.
“I always tell the truth. You don’t have to remember what you said to somebody else,” said Grassley.
Paga is still on the fence if she’ll run for office - but in the meantime, she’s making a difference wherever she finds herself.
“Whenever I’ve done something, I’ve kind of like put my all into it. Whatever community I’m a part of, I try to lift it up and make a positive impact,” said Paga.
