Anderson Silva knocks out Tito Ortiz in 81 seconds in Triller boxing match MMA Fighting

Former UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva embarrassed Tito Ortiz in the Triller boxing ring, knocking out the UFC Hall of Famer and former middleweight champ in the first round with a right hook.

Silva ducked and dodged Ortiz’s in the corner before landing the punch that sent “The Huntington Beach Bad Boy” to the canvas, out cold. The referee waved off the 10-count, awarding Silva the knockout at the 1:21 mark of the first round.

Ortiz, 46, tried to bully Silva, also 46, in his first professional boxing match, unloading with a few combinations. Showing the trademark elusiveness that ruled the UFC middleweight division for seven years, Silva got out of the way and countered with a right.

The second time Ortiz closed in, he paid dearly in a bout he took on one month’s notice and cut 40 pounds to make. The ex-UFC champ ultimately couldn’t make the 195-pound mark for which he signed and came in at 200 pounds, forcing him to give up 20 percent of his purse.

It was Silva’s second win in the boxing ring since being released from his contract with the UFC. In June, “The Spider” outpointed Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. via split decision in an upset that opened many eyes.

Afterward, Silva said he delivered his win over Ortiz for Bruce Lee and wing chun, a quip apparently in reply to Ortiz’s dismissive attitude toward his martial arts background before Saturday’s fight at Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Fort Lauderdale, Fla.
