The PGA Tour hosts its biggest event of the season Thursday as the 2023 Players Championship gets underway at TPC Sawgrass ... and it should be an absolute slugfest. There are storylines for days. The top three players in the world -- Jon Rahm, Scottie Scheffler and Rory McIlroy -- are also perhaps the three hottest players in the game right now with five combined wins between them since the start of the year.

That's before getting to guys like Max Homa, Justin Thomas, Patrick Cantlay, Viktor Hovland, Xander Schauffle and Collin Morikawa ... not to mention TPC Sawgrass. This tournament and this golf course nearly always deliver the goods, and this year should be especially fun considering how much momentum the Tour has at its back along with the strength of the field (44 of the top 50 players in the world).

Add it all up, and The Players is going to rock from Thursday morning onward. There will be a ton of huge names chasing Rahm, Scheffler and McIlroy with the biggest non-major trophy of the year up for grabs at one of the most entertaining golf courses on the planet.
