Update: 'Cobra Kai's Tanner Buchanan and Mary Mouser Are ...

Update: In a joint Instagram post, Tanner Buchanan and Mary Mouser confirmed that not only are they dating—they're engaged! "We’re so happy to finally share that we’re engaged," the Cobra Kai costars wrote. "This is such a special moment in our lives, the closing of one chapter and celebrating the continuation of another."

They went on to add, "We’re so grateful for the love and support, and though we’re partial to having our private moments, we’re excited to share this check-in to our world."

Original story: After legit y-e-a-r-s of speculation, Cobra Kai stars Tanner Buchanan and Mary Mouser may have finally confirmed they're an IRL item (!). At the series finale premiere event on February 12, the actors (who play Robby and Sam on the series, respectively) took some preeeetty coupley-looking photos together, which escalated from this:

Oh, and side note: While this isn't the first time Tanner and Mary have taken a pic together showing off their hands (they previously did the same pose at the Cobra Kai season 5 premiere), they definitely weren't wearing matching rings last time they struck the pose. Just saying!

Ever since the pictures dropped, fans have been in a tizzy trying to figure out whether the actors are dating, engaged, married...or just messing with us. It could be any of the above, truly!

Here's the thing: While Tanner and Mary have always had a close bond off-screen, they've ensured fans over and over that they are just friends, like when Mary called Tanner her "bestie" in his IG post celebrating the release of He's All That:

Oh, and there was that interview with Entertainment Now in 2021 where Mary claimed that kissing Tanner on-screen was pretty stressful. "For season 1, I know I was looking at Xolo [Maridueña] and I was like, ‘Dude, we’re friends, we’re going to kiss at some point it won’t be weird and it’ll be over,'" she recalled. "And with Tanner it was, like, we have multiple kiss scenes.”

Tanner expressed a similar sentiment the year before while chatting with Interview, saying, "The romantic scenes are what cause me the most anxiety. You could talk to Mary [Mouser] about this because she and I are such good friends. When we had our first kiss scene in season 2, they were asking us, 'Are you ready?' My heart was pounding, I was shaking. It just feels weird to go to that place, because we’re such good friends."

Welp, seems they don't mind kissing now!
