Syracuse basketball falls to Georgetown 79-75: Live score, updates

The Syracuse basketball team takes on Georgetown at noon Saturday at Capital One Arena.

Syracuse falls to 5-5 with the loss to its old Big East rival. Aminu Mohammed scored 23 points and grabbed 13 rebounds for the Hoyas, who out-scored Syracuse 45-31 in the second half.
Buddy Boeheim led Syracuse with 17 points.

Joe Girard leads SU with 13 points at halftime. SU beat Hoyas on the boards (19-16) and paint points (22-10) and got a big boost off the bench with nine points.. One of SU’s better halves of the season.

Joe Girard hit a foul-line jumper. Benny Williams gets a nice hanging shot. 9 bench points for the Orange so far which is certainly uncharacteristic of the Orange which usually doesn’t get a lot of scoring from the bench.

Frank Anselem has been getting some run and has been aggressive going to the hoop. He had a great slam over Ryan Mutumbo and got fouled by the hoop just before the timeout.

Buddy Boeheim hit a 3-pointer for Syracuse but Georgetown’s Kaiden Rice answered with a pair of 3′s. Syracuse has to keep a close eye on him as he hit 10 3′s against UMBC earlier this week.
Worth noting. The Fox broadcast listed Jim Boeheim’s career wins as 1,088, ignoring the 101 wins the NCAA stripped away from Boeheim.
