Syracuse basketball falls to Georgetown 79-75: Live score, updates

The Syracuse basketball team takes on Georgetown at noon Saturday at Capital One Arena.

The game will be televised on FOX.

Syracuse falls to 5-5 with the loss to its old Big East rival. Aminu Mohammed scored 23 points and grabbed 13 rebounds for the Hoyas, who out-scored Syracuse 45-31 in the second half.

Buddy Boeheim led Syracuse with 17 points.

Kaiden Rice hits a 3-pointer to give the Hoyas a 2-point lead. There have been 9 lead changes between the Orange and Hoyas.

A back-and-forth game as SU and Georgetown head down the stretch in D.C. Hoyas have out-scored SU 36-25 in the 2nd half.

Kaiden Rice and Buddy Boeheim trade 3′s into the timeout. Georgetown has outscored Syracuse 29-16 in the 2nd half.

The crowd is really into now as Joe Girard had to force a 3-pointer with the shot clock winding down. Georgetown up 17-7 in this half.

The Hoyas scored the first six points of the second half. Cole Swider answered with a 3. Jesse Edwards with a dunk as well.

HALFTIME: Syracuse 44, Georgetown 34.

Joe Girard leads SU with 13 points at halftime. SU beat Hoyas on the boards (19-16) and paint points (22-10) and got a big boost off the bench with nine points.. One of SU’s better halves of the season.

Joe Girard hit a foul-line jumper. Benny Williams gets a nice hanging shot. 9 bench points for the Orange so far which is certainly uncharacteristic of the Orange which usually doesn’t get a lot of scoring from the bench.

Both teams are 4-of-9 from 3-point range.

Buddy Boeheim hit a 3-pointer to give Syracuse a little 9-0 burst. Frank Anselem with a second dunk off the bench as well.

Frank Anselem has been getting some run and has been aggressive going to the hoop. He had a great slam over Ryan Mutumbo and got fouled by the hoop just before the timeout.

Buddy Boeheim hit a 3-pointer for Syracuse but Georgetown’s Kaiden Rice answered with a pair of 3′s. Syracuse has to keep a close eye on him as he hit 10 3′s against UMBC earlier this week.

Worth noting. The Fox broadcast listed Jim Boeheim’s career wins as 1,088, ignoring the 101 wins the NCAA stripped away from Boeheim.

Syracuse will start its familiar lineup: Buddy Boeheim, Joe Girard III, Jesse Edwards, Jimmy Boeheim and Cole Swider.
