Ryan Garcia Has His Sights Set On One Man: "I Need That Fight ...

Ryan Garcia is focusing on one man when he makes his ring return after his current doping scandal.

Garcia produced a career-best performance in April when he beat the then undefeated WBC super-lightweight champion, Devin Haney.

Haney was the strong favourite going into the contest but ‘King Ryan’ made him feel his power early and seemingly couldn’t miss with the left hook.

The 25-year-old – who came in 3lbs over weight so couldn’t win the title – knocked ‘The Dream’ down three times and would go on to win via majority decision on the scorecards. The jubilation however was short-lived after reports emerged that Garcia had failed two drugs test, the day before and day of the fight.

The B-samples were subsequently tested and confirmed the initial findings of banned substance Ostarine. The Californian native has always pleaded his innocence and his lawyers have pointed to contaminated supplements as the cause.

Garcia himself is looking forward and told DAZN that former stable mate Errol Spence Jr is now his ‘number one target’.

“I want to fight Errol Spence Jr. I need that fight. I’m going to take his head off.

Terence Crawford did a good job on him but I’m going to finish the job. He won’t be able to box again after he fights me.

That’s the number one target. Heart on heart I want to knock him out for my coach.”

Spence is currently in a legal battle with former trainer, Derrick James. James, who also currently trains Garcia, is suing Spence over fees due from the Crawford fight.
