HAPPENING TODAY: National pet day

(KWWL) - Today is Nation Pet Day, and everyone knows they've been keeping us sane during the last year.

Take some time today to pay special attention to your best friend and species is irrelevant.

People have furry animals such as cats, dogs, monkeys, and even hamsters. Others have the feathered kind or the scaly kind like snakes and fishes.

Also remember to provide the best environment for them by throwing away unsafe toys, making sure their vaccinations are up to date and seeing if their tags are also up to date, just in case they get lost.

If you don't have a pet, today would be a great day to call your local shelter and offer an animal a loving home.
