Emma Navarro beats Naomi Osaka to advance at Wimbledon

LONDON (WCSC) - Emma Navarro made the most of her debut on Centre Court at Wimbledon.
The Lowcountry native beat the former top ranked player in the world Naomi Osaka to advance to the 3rd round at Wimbledon, 6-4, 6-1 on Wednesday afternoon.
The 19th ranked player in the tournament beat the four-time major champion in under an hour.
Navarro dominated most of the match committing only 2 unforced errors the entire day. After trailing 3-2 in the first set, Navarro would go on to win 10 of the next 12 games to move on to the 3rd round at the All-England Club for the first time in her career.
Next, she’ll face Diana Shnaider, who beat former Daniel Island champion Sloane Stephens on Wednesday. That match is expected to take place on Friday. The winner there would most likely face 2nd seeded Coco Gauff in the 4th round early next week.
