Minnesota Vikings' Justin Jefferson, Dalvin Cook, Harrison Smith named to Pro Bowl

CHICAGO — While wearing an old Randy Moss No. 84 Pro Bowl jersey during warmups at Soldier Field, Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Justin Jefferson got the news from Moss on Monday night that he had been selected to a second straight Pro Bowl for the NFC.

Vikings running back Dalvin Cook and safety Harrison Smith also learned before Monday night’s game at Chicago that they also will be heading for the Pro Bowl.

The full Pro Bowl team won’t be announced until Wednesday, but some players were announced early to help promote the game. The news was delivered by Moss, a former Vikings star receiver, to Jefferson during ESPN’s pre-game show. Jefferson made his first Pro Bowl last year as a rookie.

Smith made his sixth Pro Bowl, tying safeties Paul Krause and Joey Browner for the most in team history by a defensive back. It was the third straight selection for Cook.

Cook was the NFC’s final leader in fan voting at running back and safety Harrison Smith the final leader in voting at strong safety. Cook received 156,503 votes and Smith 134,321 votes. Pro Bowl selections are determined by a third of a vote from fans, a third from coaches and a third from players.

The Pro Bowl will be played Feb. 6 at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas.

Vikings wide receiver Adam Thielen was inactive for Monday night’s game against the Chicago Bears at Soldier Field.

Thielen was listed as questionable with a high ankle sprain. He tested the ankle before the game before the decision was made not to play him.

In addition to Thielen, inactive for the Vikings were quarterback Kellen Mond, linebacker Chazz Surratt and guard Wyatt Davis.

Left tackle Christian Darrisaw returned to the lineup after missing two games with an ankle injury. He replaced Oli Udoh in the lineup, and the rest of the offensive line was Ezra Cleveland at left guard, Garrett Bradbury at center, Mason Cole at right guard and Brian O’Neill at right tackle.

Inactive for the Bears were defensive back Xavier Crawford (concussion), wide receiver Marquise Goodwin (foot), tackle Jason Peters (ankle) and defensive tackle Khyiris Tonga (shoulder/illness).
