What's at stake in the Mets vs Braves game?
The Braves and Mets are both 88-72 on the season, with Atlanta currently in second place in the NL wild-card race and the Mets in third.
The Diamondbacks, at 89-73, currently aren't in position for a playoff berth.
If the Braves and Mets were to split the two games today, they would both get into the postseason, with the Braves as the No. 2 wild card and the Mets the No. 3 wild card because Atlanta would hold the tiebreaker over the Mets.
If the Braves or Mets were to win both games today, the Diamondbacks would reach the postseason as the No. 3 wild-card seed, with the team that won both games Monday as the No. 2 wild card.
The team that lost both games would be left out.
The Braves and the Mets hold the tiebreaker over the DBacks. So, the Diamondbacks have to finish with a better record than one of those teams to make the postseason.
