Is Melvin Gordon playing Monday night Fantasy injury update for BroncosChargers Monday Night Football Updated
Is Melvin Gordon playing on Monday night for the Broncos against the Chargers? We have the latest injury updates ahead of the Monday Night Football active/inactive report and one of your last start 'em, sit 'em decisions of Week 6.

Melvin Gordon popped up on the Broncos' injury report this week and is forcing fantasy football owners to routinely check for injury updates leading into Denver's Week 6 matchup. Following Denver's final practice of the week, Gordon's officially listed as "questionable" against his former team, the Chargers, on Monday Night Football. Start 'em, sit 'em decisions and potential late-minute waiver-wire runs can depend on whether Gordon is playing, so let's break down what we know.

We'll continue to update this article with news on Gordon until the official active/inactive report comes out on Monday around 6:45 p.m. ET.

Is Melvin Gordon playing Monday night Week 6?

UPDATE: Gordon is officially ACTIVE.

Gordon (neck/ribs) has been practicing on a limited basis throughout the week and is officially listed as "questionable" after logging a limited session in Denver's final practice of the week on Saturday. Gordon's status puts fantasy managers in a tough spot on whether they should roll with an alternative option or wait things out, hoping Gordon will be elevated to active, ahead of MNF.

MORE MNF: DraftKings lineup

With the recent season-ending injury to fellow RB Javonte Williams, Gordon it's worthwhile to wait on him despite his "questionable" status. In his first week with Williams sidelined, Gordon played in 56 percent of snaps and dominated the red-zone work and goal-line work. Gordon also plays a role in the passing game, which is a good sign for a respectable fantasy point output on MNF with the potential for a negative game script as 4.5-point road underdogs. Additionally, Gordon ranks 10th among all RBs in yards per reception (8.9) and yards per route run (1.78), boosting his floor in PPR formats.

WEEK 7 PPR RANKINGS:QBs | RBs | WRs | TEs | D/STs | Kickers

If Gordon fails to suit up, the most obvious pivot is RB Mike Boone (38 percent owned in Yahoo leagues) who would assume a fairly big workload and sit firmly as an RB2 in both standard and PPR formats. Behind Boone is veteran running back Latavius Murray, who is rostered in just 14 percent of leagues.

WEEK 7 STANDARD RANKINGS:QBs | RBs | WRs | TEs | D/STs | Kickers

Murray would definitely cut into Boone's workload but would likely just garner flex appeal in deeper leagues. Murray did rack up 13 fantasy points in PPR leagues in Week 4 against the Broncos when he was a member of the Raiders (11 carries, 57 yards, one TD). If you have a safer option at RB and don't want to sweat out wondering if Gordon will end up playing on Monday night, we don't fault you for omitting him from your starting lineup.
